The Maxus eDeliver 7 van — set to rival the Vauxhall Vivaro Electric and forthcoming Ford E-Transit Custom — has been unveiled at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham.
The new 3.5-tonne panel van will bridge the gap between the brand’s eDeliver 3 (a rival for the Renault Kangoo E-Tech and Vauxhall Combo Electric) and the larger Ford E-Transit-rivalling eDeliver 9 panel van.
The eDeliver 7 will be available with either a 77kWh or 88kWh battery pack, which promises to provide a maximum range of up to 226 miles on a single charge. The electric motor produces 204hp and 330Nm of torque, which, according to Maxus, will translate to an acceleration time of 11 seconds to reach 62mph.
Recharging the battery to an 80% charge should take around 43 minutes when connected to a suitable rapid charger unit, which suggests that the eDeliver 7 can charge at a rate of 100kW.
Once you're inside the LCV, the cabin is reasonably modern in design. There's a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system included as standard, with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity included. Safety technology includes blind spot detection, lane change assist, automatic emergency braking, and fatigue monitoring. Front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera, are also fitted as standard, aiding manoeuvrability.
The Maxus eDeliver 7 is available in two body lengths and two roof heights. Cargo volumes will range from 5.9m3 to 8.7m3, while payload limits will be set at 1,200kg for the entry-level L1H1 model, dropping to 1,025kg for the L2H2 models with the larger 88kWh battery pack. All will have a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tonnes.
Pricing is yet to be announced but is expected in June 2023, although we anticipate a starting price of around £45,000 plus VAT. Customer orders for the Maxus eDeliver 7 will be taken from August 2023, with the first deliveries expected soon after.
Mark Barrett, Director of Harris Maxus:
“The CV Show is a key date in the Maxus calendar. In 2016 we launched our first all-electric commercial vehicle, the EV80, at the CV Show. Today marks our fourth vehicle launch at the NEC Birmingham, and our sixth EV vehicle launch in just seven years. In that time, we have positioned ourselves as a market leader when it comes to electric vehicles, and the eDeliver 7 builds on our EV range, securing our position in this regard.“Our electric vans have proven popular with businesses in the delivery, pharma and grocery/retail sectors, as well as being the number one choice for many local councils that are looking to switch to electric. Our latest addition is pitched at those who need more payload capacity than the eDeliver 3 but who may not need the full-size capabilities of our eDeliver 9.”
