Suzuki has lifted the lid on the ‘eVX’ - an all-electric SUV set to propel the Japanese firm into a ‘new era’.
As it stands right now, there’s no fully-electric vehicle in Suzuki’s range.
There are mild-hybrids - check out the affordable Suzuki Swift - and there are full hybrids - we’re looking at you, Swace, Vitara and S-Cross - as well as plug-in hybrids in the form of the Suzuki Across SUV.
But nothing, thus far, to give lease customers an extended electric range.
That looks like it’s all about to change, though, after Suzuki showcased the eVX battery electric vehicle (BEV) for the first time.
The big unveiling came at this week’s Auto Expo 2023 in Delhi, India.
Suzuki reckons the eVX will hit the global market at some point in 2025.
And one of the key things Suzuki wants to achieve with the eVX is a continuation of the firm’s all-wheel drive prowess, as it carries the baton forwards from vehicles like the Vitara ALLGRIP.
A Suzuki spokesperson explains:
“The eVX is a BEV model that combines Suzuki’s strong 4x4 DNA with the advanced features of the latest BEVs.
“The exterior is designed to be instantly recognizable as a Suzuki SUV. In addition, it aims to carry forward the brand’s 4x4 legacy into the new electric era to deliver a true Suzuki SUV driving experience.
Details about the eVX are scant at the moment.
But we do know that Suzukihopes it’ll have an electric range of up to 341 miles between charges.
And at 4,300mm long and 1,800mm wide, the eVX will be slightly more compact than the Suzuki Across, but bigger than the Vitara.
