- Maserati GT2 Stradale makes road debut
- Road-legal version of GT2 track car
- Based on the agile Maserati MC20
- Limited to just 914 units
Here’s your first look at the road-legal Maserati GT2 Stradale doing what it does best - devouring the curves on a picturesque jaunt through Spain.
The GT2 Stradale is an extreme version of the regular Maserati MC20 super sports car, which sees it shedding weight, upping the power, and adding an enormous rear wing.
The Stradale is also a road-going version of Maserati’s FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) GT2 class-approved racing car (a competition where non-professional racers can test their mettle in swanky grand tourers).
Just 914 units will be built, with production having begun in December, and with the GT2 Stradale commanding a £338,880 fee.
And to whet the appetite of the well-heeled, Maserati has just taken the GT2 Stradale on an epic road trip through the mountainous roads of Andalusia.
A Maserati spokesperson tells us: “From the charming city of Marbella, the test drive route wound its way through the panoramic curves of the Parque Nacional Sierra de las Nieves to arrive at the private Ascari circuit near Ronda, the pearl of Andalusia”
The GT2 Stradale is 60 kg lighter than the regular Maserati MC20 and also 10 hp more powerful at 640 hp. It’s the striking aero body kit that really catches the eye.
Power comes from Maserati’s V6 ‘Nettuno’ engine and the rear-wheel drive GT2 Stradale is capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds. That’s 0.1 seconds quicker than the standard MC20.
Santo Ficili, Maserati CEO adds: “From the road to the track and back again: moving from the racing GT2 to its road version was a natural step, to epitomise our brand’s performance.”
