This is an exclusive look at King Charles’ DREAM car collection... as imagined by artificial intelligence.
The UK is accelerating towards the King’s Coronation next month.
The big event takes place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May, 2023 - and it’ll be followed by a Bank Holiday on Monday 8th May.
While the King and the Queen Consort will make their way to Westminster Abbey in a horse-drawn carriage, the Monarch is well known for his love of cars.
He’s enjoyed opulent crowd-wavers, such as a Rolls-Royce Phantom and Bentley State Limousine, as well as classic sports cars like an Aston Martin V8 Virage Volante, Aston Martin DB6 Volante (below), and a MG MGC GT - the latter of which was ultimately passed down to Prince William.
The King has also benefited from more understated, practical cars, like an Audi A6 Allroad, which is a more rugged version of the regular A6.
Meanwhile His Majesty has also moved with the times, getting behind the wheel of all-electric vehicles including an Audi Q8 e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace.
But that esteemed list got us thinking about what the King’s perfect vehicle might look like - if it took design cues from all of his favourite cars from down the years?
To find out we asked Midjourney - an independent artificial intelligence (AI) hub that specialises in producing images.
We tasked the AI bots to produce a collaborative, imaginary ‘concept car’ created by Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, Bentley, Audi, Aston Martin and MG.
And this is what it came up with.
The first cars in the King’s fantasy garage manage to walk the line between luxury and sportiness, being two potent two-door grand tourers.
We also upped the ante with Midjourney by also asking it to incorporate design elements from the King’s royal carriage.
The Monarch will use two carriages for the Coronation ceremony. He’ll travel to Westminster in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach, a modern creation that features hydraulic suspension, ambient lighting, electric windows and air conditioning.
He’ll then travel back to Buckingham Palace from Westminster in the historic Gold State Coach (above), which was first built way back in 1762.
Midjourney’s take on the King’s carriages results in a gold-encrusted limo that’s somewhere between a Bentley and Rolls-Royce and which features bling gold wheels and an stately hood ornament on the bonnet.
Besides the official Coronation, Sunday 7th May will play host to the Coronation Big Lunch, which encourages communities across the UK to come together to share food.
The Big Help Out is scheduled for Monday 8th May, and will see volunteers coming together to support their local areas.
In the coming days we'll also be bringing Select Car Leasing readers a list of the car meets and events taking place over the Coronation weekend - so that you won't be stuck for stuff to do if you're not a fan of pomp and ceremony.
