Final lap for the Audi TT

Audi is calling time on its iconic TT sports car - and this is the ‘Final Edition’.

When a prototype of the TT was first introduced at the 1995 Frankfurt Motor, (below) some critics shrugged their shoulders and likened it to a ‘squashed Volkswagen Beetle’.

But the TT’s impact has been absolutely seismic.

The Mk1, launched properly in 1998, is widely considered to have one of the most influential car designs of all time. We’re now on the TT Mk3, with the latest model being released in 2014 (below).

Yet all good things come to an end.

After 25 years, the TT has run out of road and Audi has now launched a ‘highly-specified’ Final Edition variant ‘as production draws to a close’.

Andrew Doyle, Director Audi UK, says:

“Few models have lasted the test of time as well as the Audi TT. The crisp, Bauhaus-inspired lines of the sports coupé look as fresh today as they did back in 1998 and to mark the model’s incredible success here in the UK our Final Edition combines everything our customers love about this iconic model.”

The Final Edition TT is available as either a Coupe or drop-top Roadster.

And there’s three main powertrains to choose from. You can opt for the 2.0 litre petrol ‘40 TFSI’ engine, which has power of 197 PS, or the 2.0 litre ‘45 TFSI’ unit which unlocks power of 245 PS.

You can also enjoy the Final Edition in ‘TT S’ trim, which uses a 2.0 litre engine to offer oomph of 320 PS as well as a 0-62mph time of just 4.5 seconds.

Final Edition models are marked out by a black styling pack, with black Audi rings and badging, black door mirrors, black tailpipes and a fixed rear spoiler also finished in black.

Roadster models get rollover bars and wind diffuser finished in black.

Meanwhile the Coupe enjoys dark privacy glass, 20 inch alloys and red brake callipers.

Inside the cabin you can expect swathes of leather, including on the centre console, as well as an Alcantara steering wheel with red stitching.

And the TT S Final Edition gets unique black alloys, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a reversing camera and a full suite of parking sensors.

You can lease an Audi TT with Select Car Leasing from around £380 per month*.

The end to end experience of purchasing my new car has been fantastic and seemless. Richard Taylor was a great help and support. Richard was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient in finding my new car, processing the order and keeping me updated and informed about the process. The online portal was also very quick and easy to navigate. Richard and other members of the Admin Team provided great customer service and ensured the sales process was all very positive.
