Kia Ceed and ProCeed get new range-topping models

There’s a fully-loaded, range-topping trim level for the Kia Ceed and ProCeed - in the form of the ‘GT-Line S’.

In case you’re not familiar with Kia’s Ceed family, here’s a bit of a low-down.

The five-door Ceed hatchback is a trusty family-pleaser that goes up against rivals like the Volkswagen Golf, Hyundai i30 and the Ford Focus.

The Ceed is also available as a ‘Sportswagen’ - an estate with a truly enormous 625 litre boot.

Meanwhile the Kia ProCeed is described as a ‘Shooting Brake’ and which takes the Ceed Sportswagen estate and adds a more coupe-like, sloping, curvaceous rear end - similar to what Mercedes-Benz has done with its CLA Shooting Brake.

For our money, the ProCeed (below) is a great looking car, and it’s even easier on the eye in the flesh.

The GT-Line S trim applies to the Ceed hatchback and the ProCeed - but not to the Ceed Sportswagen estate.

You can expect a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with power of 160 PS and which is mated to a desirable seven-speed double-clutch transmission (DCT).

That means you’ll be able to accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds and then on to a top speed of 130 mph.

A Kia spokesperson adds:

“The DCT has been developed in-house with the aim of enhancing fuel efficiency and delivering comfort, whilst retaining the sportiness of a manual when the driver chooses to take control of gear changes. The transmission is unchanged over its earlier application in the Ceed model family.”

You also get a ton of kit that you don’t get with the lower ‘GT-Line’ trim.

That includes 18 inch alloys, a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, leather and suede upholstery and a 12.3-inch display.

There’s a ‘Smart park assist system’, which uses sensors to detect a parking space and which then takes over the steering for you, making those tricky urban manoeuvres an absolute doddle.

There’s an eight-speaker premium sound system from JBL, wireless phone charging, heated seats including in the rear, smart cruise control, and a blind-spot collision warning.

All in all, it promises a lot of car for your money - with the GT-Line S Kia Ceed available to lease with Select Car Leasing from around £323 per month*.
