Ahead of the first customer deliveries, the Volkswagen ID Buzz Cargo has been awarded the prestigious International Van of the Year 2023 title.
Carsten Intra, chief executive officer of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, accepted the award from Jarlath Sweeney, chairman of the IVOTY, at the VDA Stars Of The Year event this week.
The vehicle has been developed exclusively for battery-electric transport. It will arrive in the UK with a 77kWh battery pack paired with a 201hp electric motor, capable of achieving a range of 256 miles under WLTP testing.
Integrated deep down in the sandwich floor, the positioning of the lithium-ion battery pack and electric drive system gives a good distribution of weight and a low centre of gravity. Both factors help improve handling and agility while also maximising the cargo area.
Carsten Intra commented on the award:

IVOTY chairman Jarlath Sweeney presented the award on behalf of the 34 international commercial vehicle journalists who make up the IVOTY jury:
