Iveco reveals pure-electric eDaily van with class leading loads

Iveco has revealed its eDaily van, an all-electric version of its popular Daily van, with all the same abilities. As well as operating as an electric panel van for urban and last-mile deliveries, it’ll also be capable of covering heavy-duty missions and conversions.

The entire Daily line-up will be available in the new zero-emission version, with a cargo volume of up to 20m3 and payload limits as high as 4.6 tonnes. The van’s towing ability will lead the market, with a 3.5-tonne capability on some models.

The Iveco eDaily will be offered in van, cab, crew cab, chassis cowl and minibus body variants, with GVW ranging from 3.5 to 7.2 tonnes. There’ll also be single and twin-wheel versions, with a wide range of wheelbase and height options.

Electric Power and Range

Performance will be on a par with the regular diesel models, with the electric motor providing up to 190hp of power and 400Nm of torque. When extra power is needed, drivers can take advantage of an additional boost by activating the eDaily’s Hi-Power function. At the same time, selectable driving modes will allow users to extract maximum performance or efficiency from the powertrain.

Iveco will be offering the eDaily with a battery range to meet users' needs by adopting a modular system of battery packs. The van can be equipped with 1, 2 or 3 batteries, each rated at 37kWh, creating a maximum pack size of 111kWh. Not sure how that translates? Take a look at our guide on what kW and kWh really means.

While Iveco hasn’t released range figures, it does say that charging options include fast charging at 80kW, which adds up to 100km of range in just 30 minutes. With a 111kWh battery pack, that equates to a maximum range available of around 172 miles.

The electric system was tested under extreme conditions, from -30°C to +50°C. At the same time, uphill starts are guaranteed on gradients measured at up to 30%, ensuring the eDaily is every bit as capable on the road as the diesel-powered models we’re used to.

Using the same ultra-strong chassis as the regular van makes the eDaily a versatile EV base for conversions. A range of ePTOs up to 15kW is available to power refrigeration, cranes and other superstructures, all taking energy from the main battery pack. Grid energy can also power the equipment when the vehicle is connected to a charger or socket.

Fleet Manager and Driver Appeal

A connectivity box ensures the Iveco eDaily is always connected, enabling real-time data exchange and providing access to Iveco digital services. Customers can access the Iveco ON portal with data management and web-API functions without needing to modify their mission profile, work cycle or operational patterns.

Real-time data generated by the vehicle is monitored remotely by the Iveco Control Room, with proactive and predictive diagnostics preventing unplanned stops and allowing the timely scheduling of maintenance.

The eDaily Routing app predicts the vehicle’s range, the required charges to reach a destination, and the exact time of arrival. Range assurance alerts inform a Fleet Manager when the battery’s remaining charge is getting close to its limit while driving, and regenerative modes can be pre-set to optimise energy use. Energy usage monitoring provides detailed usage reports, even taking into account ePTOs.

Drivers will benefit from the Iveco ON Easy Daily app, with new electric vehicle features such as Driving Style Evaluation for Energy, recharge and preconditioning remote programming, and a comprehensive dashboard with vehicle parameters.

The vocal assistant, which can be activated directly from the app, offers electric-specific information, including vehicle health checks and battery levels. Climate control and navigation to the nearest e-charging station can also be activated via voice command.

eDaily Availability

Pricing for the UK has yet to be decided, but the Iveco eDaily can already be ordered across Europe, with deliveries starting from the beginning of next year.

“Electric means the future, and we want to make electrification accessible to all our Customers,”

Explains Alessandro Massimino, head of marketing and product management at Iveco.

“As a key element of Iveco’s product development strategy and transition roadmap, we designed eDaily with the objective of making its whole range electric while maintaining the features that our vehicle is celebrated for: robustness, reliability, versatility, load capacity and performance. With its broad line-up, fully modular battery set and adaptability to a wide range of conversions and applications, the new eDaily brings electric to new missions and Customers.”

Harvey, who was dealing with our order was extremely helpful. There were issues with supplying our original car, we therefore had a change of mind, selecting a different model. It all worked out well in the end.
