Top 5 pick-ups to lease right now

In the market for a work truck, tow vehicle or versatile leisure motor? You need to consider a pick-up lease. And these are the most eye-catching deals to enjoy right now.

The pick-up market is entering an exciting new phase.

Ford is preparing to launch a new plug-in hybrid Ranger with a 27-mile electric range and a payload that’s just as hefty as its diesel-powered siblings. That PHEV Ford Ranger is due to arrive in the spring of next year.

Meanwhile Maxus is also set to unleash the eTerron 9 (below)- a fully-electric pick-up with more power than a Ford Ranger Raptor and with order books set to open later this year.

But what about the pick-ups you can lease right now? And what are the best pick-up leasing deals?

We talk you through your options below. All of the vehicles listed here offer all-wheel drive barring the Maxus T90 EV, which is rear-wheel drive.4

Maxus T90 EV | £269.65 per month, ex VAT*

As we’ve explained above, Maxus is readying to launch the electric eTerron 9.

But there’s already a full EV pick-up in the Maxus range, and that’s the T90 EV.

It’s on special offer with Select Van Leasing for just £269.65 per month, ex VAT, which is the cheapest it has been for a long time.

What do you get for your monthly fee?

All T90’s come with a double cab as standard while a large 88.5 kWh battery gives you a range of up to 220 miles between charges. You get a 1,000 kg payload and standard kit includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen, artificial leather seats and a reversing camera.

Ford Ranger | Tremor trim | £301.73 per month, ex VAT*

The Ford Ranger is the most popular pick-up in the UK, full stop.

The latest stats from the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) show that it’s the third most-registered commercial vehicle this year, behind the Ford Transit Custom and Ford Transit.

What’s the appeal? The Ranger brilliantly straddles the line between workhorse and leisure vehicle. It’ll tow a digger to the site during the day then lug your mountain bikes to the forest in the evening.

This mid-range Tremor trim is built for graft with a 1,035 kg payload while looking good, too, with heavy duty side steps and muscular wheel arch flares.

KGM Musso | EX | £269.37 per month, ex VAT*

In case you’re not familiar with KGM, this is a new name for the old SsangYong brand following a major revamp earlier this year.

And the Musso should need little introduction, having first been launched in the UK under SsangYong back in 2018.

The Musso is all about affordability and value for money.

And this entry-level, double-cab EX model comes with plenty of equipment fitted as standard, including 18-inch alloys and deluxe fabric seats.

The Musso also gets a 1,024 kg payload and 3,200 kg towing capacity.

Volkswagen Amarok | Aventura | £362.00 per month, ex VAT*

The VW Amarok and Ford Ranger are closely related, with both pick-ups sharing the same platform thanks to a collaboration between manufacturers.

Why should you choose this particular deal over a Ford Ranger? What you’re looking at here is the Amarok in range-topping, fully-loaded ‘Aventura’ trim.

You get eye-catching 21-inch alloys, a Harman Kardon sound system with eight speakers and subwoofer, and seats wrapped in ‘Savona’ leather.

You also get tech like a 360-view camera, 12-inch touchscreen with sat nav, and adaptive cruise control. A 3.0-litre diesel engine provides an ample 240 bhp.

Ford Ranger Raptor | £359.88 per month, ex VAT*

When it comes to unmistakable road presence, there’s little that can match a Ford Ranger Raptor lease.

The Raptor stands apart from other Rangers in the Ford line-up thanks to its aggressive styling and off-road prowess.

This particular deal is for a Raptor with a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 205 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

You get a distinctive front grille, extra large wheel arch flares, underbody protection, performance suspension and a 760 kg payload.

Creature comforts include a 12-inch display with sat nav, B&O sound system, heated seats, heated steering wheel and wireless phone charging.
