Ford Pro has launched two new off-road focused models, the Ranger Wildtrak X and Ranger Tremor, which add to the next-generation pickup's most comprehensive line-up ever in Europe.
These new models cater to customers who require enhanced performance and capability in challenging off-road conditions. They feature a substantially reworked chassis with unique suspension upgrades that include advanced Bilstein dampers as standard and offer off-road focused driver assistance systems for increased confidence. Both models also sport a rugged new style highlighting their strength in tough conditions.
Both the Ranger Wildtrak X and Tremor also boast a segment-first option, the Flexible Rack System, which maximises the load-carrying capacity of the vehicles, especially for longer items.
Ford Ranger Wildtrak X
The Ranger Wildtrak X expands on the Wildtrak model to cater to customers who require added capability in challenging off-road conditions. It boasts a wider track width and 26mm ride height increase for better performance on rugged terrain, supported by advanced Bilstein dampers and an uprated heavy-duty power steering system. The high-performance position‑sensitive dampers provide the right damping force throughout their travel to enhance off-road ability without compromising on-road performance. At the same time, a protective steel bash plate delivers even more confidence off-road.
Standard off-road technologies include Trail Turn Assist which uses brake-based torque vectoring to reduce the turning radius by up to 25%, and Trail Control to help drivers navigate tight turns and difficult terrain — this is effectively an off-road cruise control system, limited to 20mph.
Powering all Wildtrak X models is Ford's 2.0-litre EcoBlue bi-turbo diesel engine, which delivers 500Nm of torque from 1,750rpm and 205hp via a 10-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle comes equipped with an advanced full-time four-wheel drive system with a set-and-forget mode, ensuring capability is always on hand when needed.
The Wildtrak X features a distinct look with its wider stance, raised ride height and unique Asphalt Black grille surround and bumper H-bar, wheel arch trim, and rear bumper. Optional matrix LED headlamps with auxiliary lamps in the grille deliver optimum visibility, while chunky Wildtrak X badges, blacked-out Ford ovals, and matching black 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain white-lettered tyres complete the rugged styling.
Inside, the Wildtrak X features unique Miko suede-trimmed seats with exclusive Wildtrak X embroidery, supported by soft-touch Terra suede with contrast Cyber Orange stitching on the upper dashboard, door trims, and centre console. Built-in connectivity, including FordPass and Ford Pro services like FORDLiive, enhance the ownership experience.
Ford Ranger Tremor
Ford has also unveiled the new Ranger Tremor, which is based on the hard-working Ranger XLT, and offers confident off-road ability to customers.
It shares the same chassis and technology upgrades as the Wildtrak X, including the new all-wheel-drive system; the suspension geometry has been revised to create a tougher, more planted stance, and the track width and wheel arch mouldings have been extended to create a more rugged aesthetic.
The Ranger Tremor also features a distinctive long-leg tubular sports bar, cast aluminium side steps, and exposed twin front tow hooks, giving it a bold and adventurous look. Unique Boulder Grey exterior details and a darkened grille complete the model’s distinctive appearance.
Inside, customers will find easily cleaned and water-resistant seats and flooring, with the option of an overhead switch pack with six inputs for winches, LED light bars and other equipment.
The Tremor also shares the Wildtrak X’s 2.0-litre engine, with 205hp and an impressive 500Nm of torque available at low revs. Like the Wildtrak, WLTP fuel economy is measured at 27.4mpg.
Ford Flexible Rack System
Ford's innovative Flexible Rack System can be specified on both the Ranger Wildtrak X and Tremor models. The system comes with a folding roof rack and an adjustable sliding rear load hoop that can carry long items weighing up to 80kg above the roof, freeing up the load bed for other items and improving load security.
This unique feature is also available as an option for Ranger Limited and Wildtrak pickups starting from March 2023. The first deliveries of the new Wildtrak X and Tremor models are expected in August 2023.
“The new Ranger Wildtrak X and Tremor series follow the same recipe as our iconic Ranger Raptor; each one adds even more off-road ability and stunning looks to Europe’s most popular pickup. Together, they broaden the latest Ranger family to new levels, strengthening its appeal to more customers than ever,”
said Hans Schep, general manager of Ford Pro, Europe.
