Kia teases Tasman pick-up as it gears up for Jeddah launch

Kia has dropped the final teaser images of its upcoming Tasman pick-up, marking the brand’s first foray into the world of trucks.

The official reveal is set to take place at the Jeddah International Motor Show, Saudi Arabia later this month, and anticipation is building.

From the images, the Tasman looks like it means business. Its rugged design gives off a no-nonsense vibe — tough and versatile, but with a touch of luxury that might surprise some pick-up enthusiasts.

Kia claims the Tasman is built to handle both work and leisure, offering practical solutions for those needing a vehicle that can do it all. Whether you’re hauling gear for the job site or heading out for a weekend adventure, Kia says the Tasman is up to the task.

The truck comes with the tagline ‘Dive into a New Dimension,’ which hints at its off-road potential and features that promise adaptability, safety, and a forward-thinking design.

Kia is no stranger to building vehicles for all sorts of terrains. With five decades of experience, including developing specialised military and off-road models, they’ve put some of that expertise into the Tasman. It even incorporates off-road technology from the Kia Telluride, a popular SUV in the US.

Testing for the Tasman has been thorough. The pick-up went through a gruelling set of trials under Kia’s ‘One More Round’ campaign. The Tasman completed 1,777 tests covering everything from off-road capability to towing and handling, making it clear that Kia wants this truck to perform in all conditions.

The big reveal happens on October 29 at the Jeddah International Motor Show. For those interested, Kia will also be streaming the event live on their YouTube channel at 10am Saudi time (7am in the UK).

Unfortunately for UK fans, the Tasman won’t make it to the UK. However, with Maxus launching the electric eTerron 9 and the rugged T90 Max soon, KGM bringing the O100 to our shores, and hybrid and electric models from Ford, Isuzu and Toyota coming, there’s still plenty happening in the pick-up world.
