This is the all-electric Zeekr X - and it’s a new hatchback-SUV crossover that could be heading for the UK in the coming months.
Who and what is a Zeekr, we hear you ask?
Well, Zeekr is a premium electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer owned by China’s Geely. There are a host of other respected manufacturers that now fall under the Geely umbrella, including Volvo, Lotus and Polestar.
Geely also has a 50 per cent stake, alongside Mercedes-Benz, in Smart cars.
And while Zeekr vehicles have, so far, only been sold in China, the compact ‘X’ is being widely tipped to be the firm’s first foray into Europe.
The X shares an electric platform - the so-called ‘Sustainable Experience Architecture’ - with the upcoming Smart #1. And Volvo has suggested that the Zeekr X also shares components with its upcoming ‘EX30’ electric model.
The X was also designed in Gothenburg, Sweden, at a major Volvo facility.
So, with such a lot in common with cars that are sure to prove popular here in Britain, the Zeekr X seems destined for these shores.
There’s no word yet on battery size or power for the X, but Zeekr suggests it’ll be capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in just 4.0 seconds - which is rapid, and similar to the incoming ‘Brabus’ performance version of the Smart #1.
Size-wise, the Zeekr X falls into the same market as the Kia Niro EV, Volvo XC40 Recharge and the BMW iX1.
The exterior lines are certainly distinctive, with the X’s ‘frameless door and exterior frameless mirrors’ which ‘achieve clean design and enhanced aerodynamic performance’, says Zeekr.
