Vauxhall has revealed a new entry-level version of its Astra Electric and Mokka Electric, in a bid to make the two cars ‘more accessible than ever’.
The Astra Electric hatchback and the Mokka Electric crossover have, so far, been available in GS and range-topping Ultimate trim.
But now a more affordable ‘Design’ variant is about to join the fray, with customer deliveries due at the beginning of next year.
The Design models shave a good two grand off the asking price, for both cars, if you were purchasing outright, and that price drop should also be reflected in your monthly lease fee.
So, what will you get for your money?
The Mokka Electric Design comes equipped with 17-inch alloys, a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, rear parking sensors and a panoramic rear view camera.
The Astra Electric Design gets larger 18-inch bi-colour wheels, as well as a 10-inch touchscreen with voice-activated sat nav, and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. You can also expect rear parking sensors, keyless start and automatic lights and wipers.

When it comes to the powertrains, the Mokka Electric Design and Astra Electric Design are on a par with the rest of the range.
The battery-powered Mokka has a 50 kWh battery which gives power of 136 PS as well as a range of up to 209 miles.
Meanwhile the Astra Electric makes use of a 54 kWh battery that unlocks power of 156 PS and a maximum range between charges of 258 miles.
A Vauxhall spokesperson says: “The new Design versions of Astra Electric and Mokka Electric makes Vauxhall’s electric range more accessible to consumers looking to start their electric journey, whilst continuing to deliver a high level of specification. Both models come with a comprehensive suite of driver aids and safety technologies as standard, including lane departure warning, speed sign recognition, driver drowsiness alert and forward collision alert.”
As it stands, you can lease the Vauxhall Astra Electric in ‘GS’ with Select from £563 per month*, but you can expect the Design trim to undercut that price in the coming weeks.
