The Vauxhall Astra Electric will be hitting UK roads imminently - and here’s everything you need to know about leasing one!
The Astra is, of course, one of the key cars in the Vauxhall stable and it’s a vehicle that’s been around for more than four decades.
It’s already available to lease with a host of different powertrains, including as an economical plug-in hybrid.
But now the Astra can be enjoyed as a fully-electric vehicle. For now it’s only up for grabs as a hatchback but a Sports Tourer Electric will arrive later this year.
And as the Astra Electric accelerates into view, here’s what you need to know about range, power, tech, creature comforts and key rivals.
The first thing to point out is that the Astra Electric gets a 54 kWh battery that gives it a range of up to 258 miles between charges.
That range is somewhere in between the distances capable by the Peugeot e-308 and the Renault Megane E-Tech, but is pretty much identical to the entry-level Volkswagen ID.3.
There’s a decent amount of power at 156 hp and 270 Nm of torque, which means the Astra Electric can accelerate from 0-62mph in 9.2 seconds.
It’s rapid to charge, too, thanks to 100 kW capabilities which can take the battery from 10-80% full in just 30 minutes.
The styling of the Astra Electric is very much the same as the regular Astra, so you get that trademark Vauxhall ‘Vizor’ front end, a contrast black roof, and a low, wide, sporty stance.
And there are two distinct trims available - ‘GS’ and the range-topping ‘Ultimate’.
The GS Astra Electric might be entry-level, but it’s still fully-loaded.
You get 18 inch alloys, a 10 inch infotainment touchscreen with sat nav and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated steering wheel, heated seats, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360 degree panoramic parking camera.
It’s also bristling with sophisticated driver assistance and safety aids, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
The Ultimate trim adds a host of extras that improve both comfort and safety. The cabin enjoys a panoramic sunroof, Alcantara upholstery, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, and a heated and sound insulated windscreen.
You also get LED matrix headlights and added autonomous wizardry, including lane change assist with side blind spot alert, semi-autonomous lane change, and advanced intelligent speed adaptation.
Leasing prices for the regular Vauxhall Astra begin at £264 per month* with Select Car Leasing.
*Prices include VAT. Credit is Subject to Status, Ts and Cs and Arrangement Fees apply. Excess mileage may apply. Stock levels and prices correct as of 15/06/23.
