A closer look at the Suzuki eVX electric crossover

Here’s another look at the upcoming Suzuki eVX, a hatchback-SUV crossover that’s set to become the firm’s first ever fully-electric vehicle.

As it stands, there’s no Suzuki EV. The nearest you’ll get to it is by leasing hybrid versions of the Swace estate, S-Cross SUV, Vitara crossover, or the plug-in hybrid Across.

But all that is set to change next year.

We first glimpsed the eVX in January this year, when it was showcased at the Auto Expo motor show in India, and now the compact EV is being paraded to crowds at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo.

We can also see what the eVX’s interior is going to look like, too, thanks to these debut pics.

A Suzuki spokesperson says the eVX is ‘proposed as an EV that realises true Suzuki SUV driving experience by further evolving the electronically-controlled 4x4 technologies.”

If it’s a go-anywhere Suzuki, you might even consider it as an electrified sibling of the plucky little Jimny off-roader, which was withdrawn from the leasing market in 2021 due to tightened emissions regulations.

We already know that the eVX will have an estimated electric range of up to 341 miles between charges. And the interior is as clean, modern and functional as you might expect from an electric Suzuki.

Elsewhere at the Japan Mobility Show, Suzuki has also been showing-off an updated new version of its affordable Swift, a hatchback that might find new leasing friends now that the similar Ford Fiesta is being phased out.

The facelifted Swift appears to have a squatter stance, more pronounced lines running horizontally along the side and carrying on through to the bonnet, as well as a more bug-eyed front end.

On first appearances, it looks good - and it certainly gives the mild-mannered Swift a bit more attitude.

Either way, it’s already a great little car, particularly for lease customers on a budget, and it currently comes loaded with kit as standard and its engine is supported by mild-hybrid tech.

You can lease the Suzuki Swift with Select Car Leasing from £186 per month*.

You should also check out the brilliant, quirky Suzuki Ignis, which you can lease from £211 per month*.

*Prices include VAT. Credit is Subject to Status, Ts and Cs and Arrangement Fees apply. Excess mileage may apply. Stock levels and prices correct as of 31/10/23.

With my previous lease contract coming to an end, I had to find a new lease deal at a time when a lot of my time was taken up with treatment of a couple of health issues. I needn't have worried as Select Car Leasing did all the work to find the car model that met all my requirements at a cost that was well within my budget. They handled all the discussions with the lease finance company, arranged the delivery time I wanted, and quickly resolved the couple of technical snags I encountered when signing off the e-contract documents. The whole process was quick and easy and I can't think of any part of their service that could have been delivered more effectively or quickly.
