- New Subaru Trailseeker teased
- Will arrive in 2026
- Trailseeker is a full EV with all-wheel drive
- Facelift for Subaru Solterra also announced
Brace yourself for a brand-new electric Subaru - the rugged Trailseeker.
The fully-electric Trailseeker has been teased at the New York International Motor Show ahead of a full debut in 2026.
We know very little about it just yet, with Subaru simply telling us that it’ll boast Subaru’s ’familiar shape’ combined with the firm’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and a full suite of driver assistance and safety features.
That’ll include pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, and a panoramic view monitor.
You can also expect a 14-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity alongside wireless phone charging and high-power USB-C charge points.
Subaru’s trademark ‘X-MODE’ all-wheel drive system will come as standard, which features dedicated drive modes for snow, dirt, and mud as well as Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control.
The Trailseeker will also offer 8.3 inches (210mm) of ground clearance for ‘genuine off-roading ability and dexterity’, says Subaru.
We expect the Trailseeker to be a slightly larger sibling to the existing Subaru Solterra.
Speaking of the Solterra, that particular Subaru is also enjoying a hefty update. The facelifted Solterra will launch next year.
There’s a rather striking, more slab-like new front bumper, redesigned headlamps, a rear spoiler, and fresh alloy wheels.
Subaru is promising a 25% range boost for the Solterra, thanks in part to a new battery preconditioning unit, which helps to combat some of the effects of cold weather range loss.
There’s a completely new battery, which charges from 10% to 80% in less than 35 minutes at speeds up to 150 kW, even in sub-zero temperatures.
There’s no word on how big that unit will be, but the existing Solterra gets a 71.4 kWh battery and we’d expect both the Solterra and the Trailseeker to share the new power pack.
UK Pricing and detailed UK specifications will be available for both vehicles closer to their respective launch dates.
