- Extra power for Skoda Kodiaq vRS
- Added 20 PS compared with outgoing model
- Sporty seven seater gets DSG and 4x4 as standard
- Priced from £52,595
Skoda’s flagship Kodiaq vRS just got even sportier, with the Czech manufacturer giving its SUV more power and added performance.
The Kodiaq is Skoda’s largest SUV, sitting ahead of the smaller Karoq and fully-electric Enyaq.
And the Kodiaq vRS is the one you’ll want to lease if you need a little spice with your sensible, family-sized seven seater.
The new and improved Kodiaq vRS has been handed an extra 20 PS compared with the outgoing model, which ups the output to 265 PS, courtesy of a 2.0-litre petrol engine.
What you’re essentially getting is the same engine as the newVolkswagen Golf GTI - with Skoda part of the same VW Group.
It means the Skoda Kodiaq vRS is capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 6.4 seconds and then on to a top speed of 143 mph.
The motor’s torque output of 400 Nm is the highest of any current combustion-powered Skoda production model.
You’ll also enjoy all-wheel drive, a seven-speed DSG gearbox, DCC dynamic chassis control (which reads the road surface and adjusts the damping accordingly while also unlocking various drive modes, including ‘Snow’ and ‘Off-Road’) and progressive steering as standard.
Yet despite all of that oomph, the Kodiaq vRS can still return 33.8 mpg on the WLTP combined cycle.
Besides the oily bits, there’s plenty of other kit fitted as standard.
There’s more aggressive exterior styling compared with other Kodiaqs, as well as 20-inch alloys, LED Matrix headlights, keyless entry and start, an electric tailgate with virtual pedal, and a Canton sound system.
Sport seats are upholstered with black microsuede and artificial leather with red contrast stitching.
And you also get a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit and a free-standing 13-inch infotainment screen as standard.
Prices begin at £52,595 to buy outright. Alternatives to the Skoda Kodiaq vRS include the new Volkswagen Tayron, BMW X3 and Kia Sorrento.
