- Skoda Elroq revealed in full
- Compact SUV with a fully-electric powertrain
- Prices start at £31,500 to buy outright
- Order books open later this month
In the market for an affordable electric SUV? Then you need to check out the all-new Skoda Elroq.
Having been teased by Skoda for several months, the Elroq has now been revealed in full with orders books open in a matter of days.
The Elroq is a compact SUV that acts as a smaller sibling to the larger Skoda Enyaq while being about the same size as the similarly-named and traditionally-fuelled Skoda Karoq.
The Elroq will do battle in the leasing market alongside the Renault Scenic E-Tech, Kia Niro EV and Peugeot E-2008 while also sitting on the same electric platform as the Audi Q4 e-tron.
And with a range of up to 360 miles between charges while undercutting many competitors on price, the Skoda Elroq has bags of appeal.
So, how does it look, first and foremost?
It’s got a decent amount of road presence, with a sharp front nose that has us thinking about the Kia EV6, a sleek silhouette and a coupe-like rear end. Plastic cladding around the wheel arches lend a healthy dose of robustness while a large 470-litre is decent enough for the class.
There are four trim levels - SE, SE L, Edition and SportLine - and three different batteries to choose from, so plenty of scope for customers to find their leasing sweet spot.
When it comes to powertrains, the 55kWh battery can return up to 230 miles of range and gets power of 170 PS.
A larger 63kWh can deliver around 250 miles on a full charge and ups the oomph to 204 PS.
Meanwhile the largest 82 kWh battery unlocks up to 360 miles between charges, depending on which trim level you choose and what size alloy wheels you’re riding on. Here the power also rises to a very decent 286 PS.
That 82 kWh battery is capable of recharging at speeds of 175 kW DC, while all three powertrains can be charged from 10% to 80% in under 28 minutes.
The entry-level SE grade comes fitted with the smallest 55 kWh battery and features 19-inch alloys, LED lights, a 13-inch touchscreen, and driver assistance and safety systems like rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and traffic sign recognition and blind spot detection.
The SE L trim gets the mid-size 63 kWh battery while also adding a heated leather steering wheel, heated front seats, sat nav and dual zone climate control.
The Elroq Edition can be configured with either the 63 kWh or 82 kWh battery while you can also expect unique alloys, dark chrome roof rails, privacy glass, and tech like adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and wireless charging.
The range-topping Elroq SportLine (below), meanwhile, boasts sportier exterior styling, larger 20-inch black alloys, matrix LED headlights, an electric tailgate, and microsuede and artificial leather upholstery. The Elroq SportLine also comes with the promise of more engaging handling, thanks to progressive dynamic steering as standard.
Order books open October 18 and a Skoda Elroq lease will be up for grabs imminently.
