Skoda reveals aggressive Enyaq RS Race

• Skoda Enyaq RS Race concept revealed
• Based on Skoda Enyaq Coupe vRS
• Pilot for future production models
• Gets lightweight body and performance suspension

This is the Skoda Enyaq RS Race - and it’s a Skoda Enyaq Coupe vRS on steroids!

The RS Race is a stunning new concept from Skoda which will serve as a ‘pilot project for future production models’.

And by the way this thing looks, let’s hope it does indeed roll off a factory floor in the future.

The RS Race is wider, lower and more aggressive than the Enyaq Coupe vRS upon which it’s based and boasts a huge rear wing, enhanced shock absorbers, a high-performance braking system with carbon ceramic discs and a roll cage.

It also weighs 316 kg less than its less raucous Skoda stablemate, thanks in part to flax fibre components - an alternative to carbon fibre - as well as Skoda jettisoning the panoramic sunroof that comes with the Enyaq Coupe.

Interestingly, the Enyaq RS Race and the regular Enyaq Coupe vRS share exactly the same powertrain - a 82 kWh delivering 340 PS and a top speed of 112 mph.

The RS Race is quicker to accelerate, though, completing the sprint from 0-62 mph in under five seconds while the Coupe vRS takes around 5.4 seconds.

Because the RS Race has been designed by Skoda’s motorsports team, the cabin gets full-on racing seats.

And Skoda has also handed its concept a premium sound system that incorporates a digital sound amplifier to deliver the ‘characteristic, exhilarating motorsport sound’.

Johannes Neft, Skoda Auto Board Member for Technical Development, says: “The Skoda Enyaq RS Race was developed completely in-house by Skoda Motorsport. Based on the Enyaq Coupe vRS production model, the car features a distinctive design with strong racing DNA, enhanced aerodynamics and excellent acceleration. In terms of sustainable solutions, the new concept car also serves as a pilot project for future innovations in series production.”
