Renault is about to launch another new electric vehicle - the incoming Scenic E-Tech.
The ‘Scenic’ name is an historic one for Renault, with the MPV having proved a hit with families from the late 1990s onwards, until it was discontinued here in the UK three years ago.
But the Scenic is about to make a comeback - and this time it’ll be a fully electric, fully modern model.
It’ll join Renault’s ranks of ‘E-Tech’ electric models alongside the Megane E-Tech and the ZOE.
And it’s seen here for the first time, in camouflaged form, ahead of a world debut in September this year.
A Renault spokesperson reveals: “In the 90s, Renault revolutionised the automotive market by introducing the game-changing Scenic, the world's first compact family MPV. It turned heads with its sleek design, generous space, and interior features crafted for the comfort of its driver and passengers. Scenic’s features, driving pleasure, and safety were continuously refined over the years. Today, it embodies the era of cars designed for living. The saga continues in 2023. The model is reinvented and presented in a 100% electric, technologically advanced version. Everything has changed except the name.”
Renault says the Scenic E-Tech takes its cue from the ‘Scenic Vision’ concept car that was unveiled last year.
And it certainly looks more athletic and purposeful than Scenics of old, coming with a high and imposing bonnet at the front, and a sporty spoiler at the rear.
There’s no word yet on what power or range the Scenic E-Tech electric might get, but we’ll bring you further details when the car takes to the stage at the 2023 IAA Mobility Show in Munich, Germany.
In the meantime, you can lease the award-winning Renault Megane E-Tech with Select from just £321 per month*.
You’ll enjoy plenty of power, at 220 hp, and a range of up to 280 miles between charges, depending on conditions.
*Prices include VAT. Credit is Subject to Status, Ts and Cs and Arrangement Fees apply. Excess mileage may apply. Stock levels and prices correct as of 17/07/23.
