Order books are about to open for the new and improved Renault Clio E-Tech full hybrid - and THIS is why you should lease one.
As the name suggests, the Clio E-Tech is a self-charging hybrid that never needs to be plugged in and which offers wallet-friendly fuel economy of up to 67.3 miles to the gallon.
This particular variant of the popular Clio was first launched back in 2020 - but Renault has now treated its electrified hatchback to a major update, which makes it more desirable than ever.
Renault also revealed this week that the Clio E-Tech will be priced from £21,295 to buy outright, which makes it more affordable than rivals like the Honda Jazz hybrid or the Toyota Yaris hybrid.
You’ll be able to order the supermini as a lease customer imminently - and there’s plenty to get excited about.
Renault says that with the Clio E-Tech’s ‘assertive style and cutting-edge technology’ it ‘perfectly illustrates’ the French firm’s desire to build ‘modern, distinctive and sustainable cars’.
There’s a completely redesigned front end compared with the outgoing model, as well as ‘taut lines for an overtly sporty look’, says Renault.
The petrol-electric powertrain produces 145 hp, which should translate to brisk acceleration, and you can expect a range of up to 550 miles before you need to divert to a petrol station.
The Renault Clio E-Tech can also use its electric motor up to 80 per cent of the time in cities – cutting fuel consumption by up to 40 per cent compared to a conventional petrol engine.
There’s a choice of three trims - ‘Evolution’, ‘Techno’ and the range-topping ‘Esprit Alpine’, the latter of which leans on Renault’s motorsports heritage.
The entry-level Evolution models come fully-loaded with a 7-inch digital driver display, 7-inch Easy Link touchscreen, 16-inch alloy wheels, and rear parking sensors.
Techno variants add a reversing camera, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, wireless phone charger, various drive modes, and interior ambient lighting.
Meanwhile the most stunning of the trio of new Clio E-Techs is the Esprit Alpine. There’s unique exterior styling, a matte grey front blade, heated front seats with Alpine detailing, a heated steering wheel, a 10-inch digital driver display with 9.3-inch infotainment touchscreen.
And you also got a full suite of driver assistance and safety systems, including adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert.
A Renault spokesperson tells us: “The latest generation of France’s best-selling car, which has sold over 1.1 million examples in the UK, has undergone a new reinvention for the modern world, becoming a perfect illustration of Renault’s New Wave brimming with its latest breakthroughs.”
The Clio isn't the only Renault with an 'E-Tech' full hybrid powertrain. You should also check out the Renault Captur E-Tech full hybrid crossover, which you can lease with Select from £242 per month*, or the distinctive Renault Austral E-Tech SUV, available with Select Car Leasing from £316 per month*.
