Renault has revealed the new and improved Clio E-Tech full hybrid, giving it a style makeover and a tech boost.
The E-Tech full hybrid version of the long-running Clio was first launched back in 2020.
It boasts a system that combines a 1.6 litre petrol engine with a 1.2kWh battery to bring decent oomph of 147 PS and inflation-busting fuel economy of 64.2 mpg.
The Renault E-Tech never needs to be plugged in either, as it charges itself as it goes, which is another bonus.
And while we’ve still got non-hybrid versions of the Clio available to lease (from around £200 per month*) that E-Tech full hybrid engine will soon be the ONLY powertrain under the Clio’s bonnet.
So, what’s new with this update?
There’s a style overhaul for starters, including a chiselled front grille and light signature. Renault goes all Austin Powers when describing the Clio’s new lines as ‘sculpted, tauter and groovier’.
Meanwhile the Techno and new Esprit Alpine trim levels also get an airfoil, which sits just below the front grille and gives the Clio a sportier, more aggressive edge.
The rear bumper has also had a makeover, with aerodynamic scoops at the back.
Step inside the cabin of the new Clio E-Tech and you’ll find new ethically-sourced fabrics and a complete absence of leather.
The refreshed dash boasts a fully-connected touchscreen that measures up to 10 inches, depending on which trim level you choose,
The Esprit Alpine model also gets a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control with speed limiter, blind spot warning, a 9.3 inch Easylink touchscreen with navigation and wifi smartphone integration, alongside a 10 inch driver display.
No matter which Clio E-Tech lease you choose, though, you get a full suite of driver assistance and safety tech as standard, including automatic emergency braking.
Combine all of that with a 300 litre boot, and you’ve got one of the best superminis in the class - with the Clio competing with the likes of the Vauxhall Corsa, Volkswagen Golf and, of course, the outgoing Ford Fiesta.
