Porsche Macan Electric gets more affordable

  • New entry-level Porsche Macan Electric revealed.
  • Rear-wheel drive, single motor model gets 398-mile range.
  • Base Macan Electric still gets power of up to 360 PS.
  • Most affordable Macan Electric priced from £67,200.

Porsche has just made its highly-desirable Macan Electric more affordable by introducing a rear-wheel drive model.

The Macan Electric launched earlier this year in two different guises - the all-wheel drive ‘4’ and the potent, supercar-worrying Turbo (which is also all-wheel drive).

Now two new variants have joined the Porsche paddock.

One is the ‘4S’, another 4x4 Macan which sits between the 4 and the Turbo in the line-up.

But the other is just called the ‘Macan’, and it’s your new entry-level gateway into Macan Electric leasing.

It’s underpinned by the same 100 kWh battery as the rest of the cars in the Macan Electric range but here a single motor, rear-wheel drive set-up has boosted the maximum range between charges to a very decent 398 miles.

You still get power of 340 PS (it goes up to 360 PS for a short amount of time when you punch the ‘Launch Control’ button) and 563 Nm of torque, and the ability to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds.

To put that figure into perspective, it means the Macan Electric is quicker than the petrol-powered Macan T and only 0.6 of a second slower than the Audi SQ5. Not too shabby for a base model.

The new Porsche Macan Electric costs from £67,200 to purchase outright and we’ll bring you leasing prices as soon as they arrive.

The other Macan to talk about is the new ‘4S’ - pictured above - with prices beginning at £75,400 to buy.

Like the other Macans higher up the range, it’s a twin-motor all-wheel drive affair. It gets power of 516 PS (with overboost) and can glide from 0-62 mph in relative silence in just 4.1 seconds. You also get a range of up to 376 miles between charges.

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damping control is fitted as standard while adaptive air suspension with levelling system and height adjustment, the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and the rear-axle steering are all available as options.

Speaking of options, Porsche has also introduced a new ‘off-road design package’ which can help you tackle ‘rough dirty roads’ or ‘steep climbs and descents’ with ease.

The front bumper has been tweaked to provide a better approach angle (up to 17.4 degrees) while adaptive air suspension helps to increase the ground clearance by 10 mm to 195 mm at the normal setting. You also get 21-inch off-road wheels.

The off-road design package costs from £908 extra.

The two new Macan models are available to order now and will be delivered to customers in the second half of the year.
