- Facelift for the electric Hyundai Ioniq 5.
- Bigger batteries mean a range increase to a 354-mile max.
- Sleek and sophisticated new exterior styling.
- New entry-level ‘Advance’ trim launched.
Hyundai has facelifted its award-winning Ioniq 5 - and it’s now more affordable than ever.
The Ioniq 5 is a serial trophy grabber, scoring umpteen ‘Car of the Year’ gongs since its launch in 2021.
Now Hyundai’s eye-catching electric SUV has been treated to an update. It arrives with a fresh new look, three new trim levels, and an increased range between charges.
Let’s talk about the exterior first.
There’s a revised front and rear end, as well as new alloy wheel options, an extended rear spoiler, and the introduction of a rear wiper at the back.
While the Ioniq still looks futuristic, the sci-fi-esque elements have been toned-down to give it a sleeker, softened and a more sophisticated air.
It’s a similar story inside the uprated cabin, where a new interior layout features a sliding centre console with physical climate and heated seat buttons and there are dark surrounds for the 12.3-inch infotainment screen and the digital driver display.
Up until now, you could lease the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in two trims - ‘Premium’ and ‘Ultimate’. But now a trio of new grades have joined the party.
The big news here is that there’s a new entry-level ‘Advance’ trim that knocks more than £3,000 off the Ioniq 5’s asking price, down to £39,900, and which should also translate to cheaper monthly lease fees.
This Advance Standard Range model uses a 63 kWh battery (smaller than the rest of the Ioniq 5 range but still bigger than the previous entry-level battery) to produce power of 170 PS and range of up to 273 miles.
The cheapest rear-wheel drive gateway model is also really well specced as standard, coming with 19-inch alloys, heated front seats and steering wheel, a rear view camera, dual 12.3-inch screens, sat nav and keyless entry and start.
You can also opt for a bigger new 84 kWh Long Range battery (again, larger than we’ve seen before with the Ioniq 5) at the Advance level, which unlocks 228 PS and a range of up to 354 miles between charges.
As well as the Advance trim, there are also now ‘N Line’ and ‘N Line S’ models (above), the latter of which sits at the very top of the Ioniq 5 tree.
For N Line and N Line S models, the Long Range 84kWh 228PS rear-wheel-drive powertrain has a combined range of up to 320 miles, with an all-wheel-drive option offering a combined range of up to 307 miles. That all-wheel drive powertrain is also the most potent, coming with power of 325 PS and the ability to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 5.3 seconds. It’s available with the N Line, Ultimate and N Line S trims.
There’s an abundance of safety features fitted as standard across the range, including forward collision assist, lane follow and lane keep assist, and smart cruise control with stop and go.
The new N Line trim features 20-inch alloys, privacy glass, unique front and rear bumpers with bigger air intakes, and leather sport seats.
Meanwhile the range-topping new N Line S trim gets Alcantara seats, a head up display, remote parking, a swanky BOSE sound system, a vision roof and uprated seats with heating in the back.
The other great thing about the latest Hyundai Ioniq 5 is that a heat pump is now equipped as standard, which will help to boost efficiency come rain or shine. Rapid 350 kW charging can also replenish the battery from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.
We’ll bring you leasing prices when they drop!
The latest Hyundai Ioniq 5 remains a key to rival to lease cars like the Audi Q4 e-tron, Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6 and Volkswagen ID.4.
