That’s how you make an entrance - because the brand new MINI John Cooper Works is set to make its debut at the gruelling 24 Hours of Nürburgring race next month.
The updated John Cooper Works three-door hatchback will get its full, proper world premiere in the autumn of this year.
Available with either a petrol or electric powertrain, you can expect it to be the same pocket rocket of a scamp that it has always been.
And, ahead of that big reveal, a petrol-powered JCW hatch will accelerate into view as it takes on the 24 Hours of Nürburgring race at Germany’s infamous Nürburgring-Nordschleife race circuit in a ‘day-long battle of speed, skill, and reliability’, says MINI.
That event begins on June 1st. But in the meantime you can glimpse the MINI JCW here in these disguised new pics.
A MINI spokesperson tells us: “In a nod to Mini’s historic victory of the Mini Cooper S at the 1964 Rallye Monte Carlo 60 years ago, the racecar features a distinctive “37” logo, commemorating this milestone achievement. This emblem serves as a homage to MINI’s rich motorsport tradition.”
They add: “As anticipation builds for its debut, MINI fans and automotive enthusiasts alike can expect an unforgettable showcase of the New MINI John Cooper Works capabilities at this year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring from June 1st to June 2nd 2024.”
While details about the refreshed MINI JCW are scant, you can expect it to improve on the outgoing car’s power of 231 hp and 6.1-second 0-62mph acceleration time.
We’ll bring you further details when we get them.
