MINI has thrown the sheets off its new electric Aceman - and it’s seen here in full for the very first time.
The battery powered crossover will sit between the MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman and will go on sale in June this year, with first deliveries expected at the back end of 2024.
And if you’re looking for a funky lease car built for the cut and thrust of urban traffic, the Aceman should be well worth a look.
It’s certainly a bit of a looker, with angular LED headlights, an octagonal front grille, flush door handles, and no-nonsense plastic cladding on the wheel arches and doors.
If you’re looking to lease the MINI Aceman, the first thing you’ll need to do is choose the powertrain, as there are two up for grabs.
The ‘E’ models are equipped with a 42.5 kWh battery that provides power of 184 hp and a range of up to 192 miles between charges. It’s sprightly, accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 7.9 seconds.
The ‘SE’ variants use a larger 54.2 kWh battery to increase the power to 218 hp while hiking the range up to a maximum 252 miles. You’ll also sprint from 0-62 mph in 7.1 seconds, largely thanks to increased torque of 330 Nm.
The E battery supports 75 kW DC charging while the SE is capable of speeds of up to 95 kW, which can take the energy from 10 to 80 per cent in under 30 minutes.
After you’ve selected the powertrain, you’ll then need to choose one of the three different trim levels - ‘Classic’, ‘Exclusive’ and ‘Sport’.
The Classic grade features a ‘reduced overall appearance’ with a gloss black front grille and 17-inch alloys.
The Executive models get a silver front grille and larger 18-inch alloys while also giving you the option of a two-tone roof.
Meanwhile the Sport variants feature a distinctive front and rear design inspired by John Cooper Works (JCW) which comes complete with a rear spoiler, red/black bonnet stripes and a Chili Red roof.
Inside the Aceman’s cabin you’ll find a 24cm (9.4 inch) OLED display with a ‘Hey MINI! voice assistant, a heated steering wheel and an eye-catching curved dashboard covered with a recycled polyester textile material.
And then, on top of the standard kit on offer, optional equipment is bundled into three packages - Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. If you choose the SE powertrain you automatically get Level 1 thrown in as standard.
Level 1 gets a head-up display, wireless charging, and heated front seats.
Level 2 adds a glass roof and a Harman Kardon sound system.
And Level 3 boasts electric front seats with massage function, an interior camera, MINI sat nav and the ‘Parking Assistant Plus’ with a bank of cameras. You also get MINI’s ‘Driving Assistant Plus’ which unlocks semi-automated skills to maintain speed, keep you in your lane, and hold a safe distance between you and the car in front while braking and accelerating independently for you.
When it comes to interior space, the MINI Aceman has a 300-litre boot and plenty of roomin the rear for three passengers.
The MINI Aceman is priced from £31,800 to buy outright and we’ll bring you leasing prices as soon as we can.
Rivals to the Aceman will include everything from the Renault Megane E-Tech to the Smart #1.
