- New MG ZS Hybrid+ arrives October
- Replaces the outgoing, petrol-engined MG ZS
- Gets decent power of 196 PS
- Costs from £21,995
MG is readying to launch a new mild-hybrid ZS to replace the existing petrol-engined version of its affordable SUV.
The MG ZS Hybrid+ will arrive in showrooms in October of this year and will be available to order as a lease imminently.
It’ll cost from £21,995 to buy outright, which is three grand more than the current, traditionally-fuelled MG ZS.
But with very decent power of 196 PS and the ability to deliver around 55 miles to the gallon when it comes to fuel economy, the MG ZS Hybrid+ will take the fight to other hybrid crossovers like the Nissan Juke or Renault Captur.
The hybrid system itself marries a 1.5-litre engine with a 1.83 kWh battery, a 45kW generator and electric motor.
MG promises a ‘refined driving experience with excellent performance’ as well as the ability to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 8.7 seconds, which is sprightly for the class.
The MG ZS Hybrid+ will be available in two trim levels - ‘SE’ and ‘Trophy’.
As standard on all models you can expect a 12.3-inch infotainment display with sat nav, a 7-inch digital cockpit, rear parking sensors, rear camera, and keyless entry. You also get a full suite of driver assistance and safety tech as standard, including adaptive cruise control and active emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection.
Meanwhile the range-topping Trophy grade adds larger 18-inch wheels, rear privacy glass, leather style upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, 6-way electrically-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, and a 360° surround view camera.
David Allison, Head of Product and Planning for MG Motor UK, said: “The All New MG ZS Hybrid+ delivers an exceptional driving experience and incredible value in the B-SUV segment, featuring equipment and technologies that make daily life easier. The refreshed model has a more mature design with a sharper front-end, and the new interior provides a comfortable and connected cabin. We’re confident in delivering the same appeal and accessibility that made its predecessor such a success.”
