Say hello to your dream new daily driver - the McLaren GTS.
The shiny new GTS replaces the outgoing GT in McLaren’s range. Like the GT, the GTS is an ‘entry-level’ offering from the British manufacturer.
And the key thing to know about the GTS is that McLaren has built it with everyday usability in mind, not just adrenaline-inducing thrills.
So, the gorgeous grand tourer gets 570 litres of luggage space - which is more than a Nissan Qashqai - as well as intelligent adaptive suspension with a dedicated ‘Comfort’ mode that makes for ‘relaxed’ driving.
You can raise the GTS’ nose using the ‘vehicle lift function’, giving you 130mm of extra ground clearance for when you need to negotiate the speedbumps at your nearest Lidl.
Meanwhile McLaren has also tweaked the steering system to make it easy to carry out low-speed manoeuvres, such as parallel parking.
All in all, McLaren reckons the GTS is ‘the most practical new supercar on sale today’.
Don’t be fooled, though - the GTS is still a proper weapon on road or track.
McLaren’s freshest model is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing power of 635 PS - 15 PS more than the GT.
The GTS is also lighter than the GT, by 10 kg, thanks in part to a carbon fibre ‘MonoCell II-T’ monocoque chassis, which helps it to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 3.2 seconds.
McLaren has given the GTS a more ‘powerful’ stance than the GT, coming with a new front end, taller air scoops at the back, as well as a large rear diffuser and dual exhausts.
When it comes to luggage space, you’ll find 420 litres behind the twin seats, and an extra 150 litres in the front nose, which should be ample for the weekly shop - or a weekend run to Tuscany.
And the cabin features, as standard, Nappa leather ‘Comfort’ seats, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with sat nav, and a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system.
There’s no word yet on price, you can expect the McLaren GTS to begin at around £166,000.
