You can now order a McLaren 750S supercar with one of the world’s most eye-catching paint schemes - the ‘Spectrum Theme’ with ‘Velocity Fade’.
The new 750S is McLaren’s successor to the 720S, and which goes up against the equally potent Ferrari 296 GTB.
The rear-wheel drive McLaren is powered by a 4.0 litre V8 that chucks out oomph of 750 PS, 800 Nm of torque, and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds.
That’s rapid, aided by an extreme commitment to saving weight that sees the 750S tipping the scales at 30 kg less than the already lightweight 720S.
But how do you make the 750S look even quicker? If you’re McLaren, you give it a truly ‘go faster’ paint job, that’s how.
The Spectrum Theme is offered exclusively on the 750S and has been developed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division to ‘push the boundaries of craftsmanship’, says the British firm.
It has also been a labour of love, with the seven-shade finish requiring the development of all-new paint colours and bespoke mixes for each segment of the Spectrum.
McLaren says the ‘illusion of light to dark within each individual stripe’ gives a ‘sense of speed and acceleration, even when the 750S is stationary’.
Michael McDonagh, Director, McLaren Special Operations adds: “The Spectrum Theme takes what we can do at McLaren to the next level. A huge degree of attention and accuracy is required to ensure the lines of the Spectrum are completely sympathetic to the surface of the 750S’s incredible bodywork, and the new techniques we’ve developed to achieve this are a perfect match for the 750’s wide-ranging technical advances. The increasing complexity of what we can offer to customers, through themes like Spectrum, is testament to the incredible experience and expertise of our paint technicians at MSO.”
You can order the Spectrum Theme in three variants - Spectrum Blue, Spectrum Grey and Spectrum Orange.
