This mean and moody new limited edition Maserati MC20 Notte has been ‘awakened by darkness’ - and endorsed by brand ambassador David Beckham!
The regular MC20 is a sleek super sports car that’s available as either a coupe or a convertible ‘MC Cielo’.
And in this shadowy matte black ‘Notte’ form, the MC20 looks more tantalising than ever.
It really is a car to stir the soul, with Maserati describing it as ‘a fierce creature of the nocturnal world’, while a short film to accompany the release says the MC20 Notte has been ‘awakened by darkness’, like Dracula reanimating inside his coffin!
In actual fact, the Maserati MC20 Notte takes its cue from the Italian firm’s racing prowess.
The Maserati ‘Fuoriserie’ team - which helps owners personalise their cars - worked with test driver and former GT1 world champion Andrea Bertolini to hone the bodywork.
A Maserati spokesperson explains: “Its exterior turns from a glossy black shade to a magnetic matte ‘nero essenza’ hue ready to glow in the dark thanks to ‘the Midas touch’ of track predator Bertolini turning the details - the Trident, the side logos and the Maserati signature – from silver to matte white gold, reigniting the brand's glorious motorsport memories.”
The MC20 Notte sits on 20-inch matte black ‘birdcage’ wheels, which are in turn stopped by black brake callipers. You can also expect a cabin brimming with black Alcantara and carbon fibre inserts.
Klaus Busse, Head of Maserati design, said: “Fuoriserie means ‘custom-built’ in Italian, and our Trident’s customisation program is conceived to create one-of-a-kind rolling sculptures for our clients. MC20 Notte celebrates the thrill of racing and the allure of the night combining supreme performance and Italian elegance with a touch of mystery of the nocturnal world. It is the first Fuoriserie limited edition of MC20 and it is dedicated to super sportscar collectors and track enthusiasts.”
Judging by the flick, former England footballer Beckham might be one of the few people lucky enough to get their mitts on the MC20 Notte.
As with the standard MC20, the Maserati MC20 Notte is powered by a thunderous 3.0 litre V6 ‘Nettuno’ petrol engine that boasts power of 630 hp and which translates to a 0-62mph time under 2.9 seconds.
There’s no word on how expensive the MC20 Notte might be, but you can expect it to cost around £280,000, with the regular MC20 priced from around £220,000.
