The Manchester Office of Select Car Leasing is proud to announce its new sponsorship of the City of Salford Swimming Club.

The two-year deal has been agreed to fund the Club’s ‘Swim Manager’ software programme, which facilitates the day-to-day administrative running of the Club and allows the complex tracking of all athletes competing across the course of a season.
The sponsorship also ensures the Club can continue to keep membership fees as low as possible for its 230 members, helping to achieve its goal of taking athletes from the ‘Learn to Swim’ scheme to competing on the international stage.
Kim Aitken, Competitions Secretary at City of Salford Swimming Club, thanked Select Car Leasing Manchester for its ‘absolutely vital’ contribution.
She explained: “Swimming is not particularly well funded here in the UK, so sponsorship from local businesses like Select Car Leasing Manchester is absolutely vital for clubs like us, particularly as we welcome swimmers from all walks of life while trying to keep our fees as low as possible.
“We’re particularly grateful for financial support when it comes to our ‘Swim Manager’ software. Without it, we’d have to manually input data for all of our 230 members, who enter up to 10 races each at every gala, which would be something of a logistical nightmare.
“Most of all, we’re delighted to welcome Select Car Leasing Manchester to our swimming family.”

He highlighted the Club’s incredible achievements and said: “Everyone at Select Car Leasing Manchester is proud to be backing City of Salford Swimming Club, an organisation that punches well above its weight when it comes to producing amazing talent.
“The entire ethos of the Club, which is built on hard work and determination, has a real synergy with our business and I’ve personally experienced first hand the qualities of the coaching and the calibre of the people involved. There’s a real sense that ‘we’re all in this together’, and everyone at the Club goes the extra mile to help each other.”
City of Salford Swimming Club was founded in 1977 and, while headquartered at Broughton Leisure Centre, operates out of five other centres run by Salford Community Leisure. The Club experienced a major blow in May 2024, when a fire ripped through one of its bases - the Clarendon Leisure Centre - gutting the whole building.
The Club develops swimmers that come out of the Learn to Swim scheme and into the competitive circuit through County, Regional, National level and beyond. Last season alone, it had four swimmers competing at an International level.
One of those is Amelie Blocksidge, a 15-year-old sensation who is already the fastest female in Great Britain across 800m and 1500m, with a whole range of other international titles to her name. Having just competed at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest in December, Amelie is looking to secure her place on the GBR team for the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore this year.
John Bailey, Chairman of the Club, says “We are so proud of the talent we produce at all levels, from County to International, for such a humble programme in Salford. We have an incredible team of volunteers and coaching staff that run the Club day-to-day and without the support of sponsors like Select Car Leasing Manchester we would not be able to support these athletes. Providing them with these opportunities and support in a place like Salford is crucial when we’re constantly up against other areas of the country.”
Select Car Leasing Manchester caters to businesses and personal clients both locally and throughout the UK. It’s located in Swinton and you can contact one of its friendly leasing consultants by calling 0161 737 9350.
City of Salford Swimming Club is also actively seeking additional sponsorship, as it hopes to raise funds to replace scoreboard and timing equipment while also purchasing a new PA system. If you’re a local business who could help, please get in touch with them directly.
