- New ‘Turbo SE’ variant of Lotus Emira revealed
- Replaces the previous entry-level model
- 2.0-litre engine gets 400 bhp and 480 Nm torque
- Range-topping V6-engine Emira also available
- Prices begin at £89,500
Lotus has revamped its Emira line-up by launching a lovely new Turbo SE model - and it’s seen here for the first time.
The Emira is Lotus’ petrol-powered, two-seat, mid-engined sports car which was first unveiled back in 2021. It’s not to be confused with the Lotus Emeya, a fully-electric hyper GT that you can also lease with Select.
Up until now, the Lotus Emira has been available in ‘First Edition’ trim only - with the choice of a 360 bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine or a more potent 400 bhp 3.5-litre V6 mill.
Now the Emira Turbo SE has arrived to displace the previous entry-level model, with prices beginning at £89,500 (the V6 will set you back at least £92,500).
And it’s here where things get really interesting.
The Emira Turbo SE now gets the same power as its V6 sibling - 400 bhp. And despite being the cheaper option, the Turbo SE is actually more rapid than the V6, sprinting from 0-62 mph in 4.0 seconds (the V6 takes longer at 4.3 seconds) while also enjoying more torque (480 Nm compared with the V6’s 420 Nm) and a higher top speed (182 mph vs 180 mph).
These are small differences, but they’ll probably be a big deal to the people who might want to lease a Lotus Emira.
The Turbo SE will also appeal to many, as the engine and 8-speed DCT box have been sourced from Mercedes-AMG and combine to make the Emira the ‘World’s fastest four-cylinder sports car’, according to Lotus.
The Emira Turbo SE comes with the ‘Lotus Drivers Pack’ as standard, including Sports suspension settings, uprated cross drilled and ventilated two-piece brake discs and launch control. You also get 20-inch V-spoke forged Satin Grey wheels, Zinc Grey paint, Alcantara headliner, red brake callipers, new ‘Emira Turbo SE’ badging, new black Lotus branding and black Lotus badging and tailpipes.
The V6 (above), on the other hand, enjoys ‘Touring’ suspension and a limited slip differential (LSD) for manual models.
