- New Lamborghini Temerario revealed
- Super sports car will replace the Huracan in Lambo's line-up
- It's a plug-in hybrid with power of 920 PS
- Goes on sale early next year and expected to cost from £275,000
Lamborghini has unveiled the sleek successor to the Huracan in the form of the new Temerario.
The Temerario took centre stage at the Monterey Car Week in California, attracting crowds of onlookers in the process.
And the big news here is that while the Huracan was packing a 5.2-litre V10 engine with power of up to 640 PS, the Temerario boasts a twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain with 920 PS on tap.
The Temerario is what Lamborghini calls a 'High Performance Electrified Vehicle' (HPEV) - and it’s a proper plug-in hybrid, just like Lamborghini’s Revuelto and the recently released Urus SE.
The Italian firm is promising customers the ‘highest levels of performance and comfort for a peerless driving experience’.
Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, enthuses: “The Temerario is a genuine ‘fuoriclasse’: a car in a league of its own, an extraordinary and innovative vehicle both from a technical and stylistic point of view. Every new Lamborghini must surpass its forerunners in performance terms, while at the same time being more sustainable from an emissions standpoint. With the Temerario, we have completed a key chapter in the electrification strategy included in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan: we also become the first luxury automotive brand to offer a completely hybridised range.”
The Temerario will accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.7 seconds and will hit a top speed of 210 mph.
It’s also the ‘first and only production super sports car engine able to reach 10,000 rpm’, says Lambo, which is a feat typically only achieved in motorsports.
The Temerario is expected to go on sale next year with an asking price of around £275,000 and with the Ferrari 296 GTB being one of its biggest rivals.
