If you’ve ever dreamed of getting behind the wheel of a Kia Stinger, now is the time to lease one - because it’s just been withdrawn from sale in the UK.
The Stinger was first launched in 2017 and quickly won admirers thanks to a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine with power of 370 PS.
It was, at the time, Kia's fastest-accelerating car, achieving the 0-to-62mph sprint in 4.7 seconds.
And for lots of admirers, the Stinger really took the fight to the Ford Mustang, which arrived in the UK a couple of years prior in 2015.
The sporty Stinger GT softened over time.
A more affordable 2.0 litre petrol engine with 247 PS launched in 2018, as did a gutsy 200 PS diesel, as the Stinger homed-in on rivals like the Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series.
Now Kia’s flagship grand tourer is bidding farewell, as it accelerates into the sunset.
Why is Kia ditching the four-door coupe - especially as Ford has just announced a new no-holds-barred, rip-snorting, V8 Mustang for 2023?
Well, the all-electric Kia EV6 GT - a performance version of the regular EV6 - is waiting in the wings, with first deliveries set to begin in the coming weeks.
And the EV6 GT offers all the thrills - and more - of the Stinger without the emissions and fuel expense.
The battery-powered EV6 GT has power of 585 PS, 740 Nm or torque, and can whip from 0-62mph in just 3.5 seconds, making it quicker than a Porsche Taycan GTS.
The EV6 GT, with its 77.4kWh battery, also has a range of up to 265 miles and with 800V charging technology, it can recharge from 10-to-80 per cent in 18 minutes from an ultra-rapid charger. It also gets performance brakes, optimised steering, and reworked suspension compared with the standard EV6.
Yet despite the new focus, Kia fully recognises just how important the rear-wheel drive Stinger was for the brand as whole.
Paul Philpott, President & CEO for Kia UK, tells us:
"The launch of the Stinger will go down as a transformative moment for Kia. Its driver-focused 'grand tourer' credentials, paired with Kia's reputation for vehicle quality and design, made it an incredibly compelling car for drivers. At the same time, it also had a transformative effect on how people saw Kia.
For the same reasons, the EV6 GT is the ideal car to take the baton from the Stinger in the UK. Combining high-performance capabilities with an incredible design and a long-range electric powertrain, the EV6 GT is an important part of this plan, and a true new flagship for the Kia brand."
While the order books are closed on the Stinger, the good news for lease customers is that there is still stock to be enjoyed.
