Kia streamlines Sorento range with one ‘Edition’ model

Ordering a new Kia Sorento just got a whole lot simpler - because there’s now just one trim level to choose from, called ‘Edition’.

The large SUV was previously available in ‘2’, ‘3’ and ‘4’ trim grades.

But, in the face of lengthy delivery times for customers owing to the global car parts shortage, Kia has taken the decision to do some clinical ‘streamlining’ to ease the ‘production and delivery process’.

With fewer personalisation options, the quicker the Sorento will roll off the factory production line.

The good news for customers is that the ‘Edition’ builds on the outgoing, top-spec ‘4’ model, so it comes with an impressive amount of kit on offer.

Seven seats also come as standard on every ‘Edition’ Sorento.

And you can still choose between three powertrains - a diesel engine, a plug-in hybrid and a self-charging hybrid. There are three paint options - White Pearl, Graphite or Midnight Black.

Style wise, there’s a black front grille trim, black mirror caps, black roof rails and black side window trim.

Diesel models get 20 inch alloys while the hybrid and plug-in hybrid have smaller 19 inch rims.

In terms of kit, you can expect a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, powered tailgate, a remote smart parking assistant, 360 degree camera, heated and ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and an uprated Bose sound system - among lots of other creature comforts.

A Kia spokesperson adds:

“The fourth-generation Sorento has won numerous awards since its launch in 2020. Highlights include being named ‘Large SUV of the Year’ at the 2021 What Car? Car of the Year Awards, ‘Best Large SUV’ at the Women’s World Car of the Year Awards 2021 and ‘Best Large Family Car’ at the 2022 Parkers New Car Awards. Furthermore, the entire Sorento line-up was awarded the coveted five star Euro NCAP safety rating.”

When it comes to the engines available, the plug-in hybrid has the most amount of power, at 261 bhp, and it has an electric-only range of up to 32 miles.

The PHEV Sorento will also reach 62mph from a standstill in around 8.4 seconds - which isn’t too shabby for such a large vehicle.

Charging should be easy, too, with a 3.3kW system taking the battery from flat to full in just 3 hours and 25 minutes. So be sure to get the most out of every charge, and consult our guide on picking your ideal charger.

You can lease a Sorento with Select Car Leasing - and we've still got the '2', '3' and '4' trim levels available, too - for around £418 per month.*

I would definitely recommend Select Car Leasing. They have been very helpful and efficient during the whole process. They always called me back and the online portal to track your order is very useful.
