- Kia EV2 - new details revealed
- Inspired by ‘picnic in the city’ lifestyle concept
- Closer look at the EV’s interior
- Kia EV2 set to launch in 2026
Kia has treated us to a closer look at its incoming EV2 - the Korean manufacturer’s next big thing when it comes to ‘urban mobility’.
We first caught a glimpse of the EV2 back in February this year, when we learned how it’ll be a more affordable, more compact cousin to the award-winning Kia EV3.
The EV2 is set to launch in 2026, and so far we know very little about it. If we were in a guessing mood, we’d suggest that if the EV2 gets the same 58.3 kWh battery as the Kia EV3 it could end up with a range in excess of 300 miles between charges (the larger EV3 can travel around 270 miles).
However, Kia has now revealed some extra pics and snippets of info about the EV2’s cabin.
The concept model you see in these images has been designed with a ‘picnic in the city’ ethos which ‘combines comfort and versatility for a user-centric experience’, says Kia.
There are environmentally conscious materials, such as recyclable flax fibre bio-composites.
And there are also music speakers in the headrests, portable door speakers and detachable seat covers, all of which might lend themselves to some urban finger food.
A Kia spokesperson tells us: “With everyday usability in mind, Kia focused on maximising the functionality of the first-row space, which is typically the primary space in vehicles of this size. Thanks to the flat-floor layout, the second-row seats fold up while the front seats can slide far back to expand the cabin. Additional side-extendable seat elements expand the cabin even further to support a variety of activities, transforming the interior into a more adaptable, user-friendly space.”
When the Kia EV2 does become available to lease, it’ll compete with the likes of the Smart #1, Renault 5 E-Tech and Citroen e-C3.
