The Hyundai Tucson has, very publicly, been named ‘Best Family Car’ following a humorous selection process on BBC1’s Top Gear.
The Tucson is Hyundai’s midsize SUV, falling between the smaller Kona and the larger, seven-seat Santa Fe. It does battle in the market with cars like long-standing rival the Kia Sportage, as well as the Nissan Qashqai, Volkswagen Tiguan and the Peugeot 3008.
And now the Tucson has enjoyed some fantastic exposure on the Beeb’s favourite motoring show, after being praised by hosts Freddie Flintoff, Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris.
The team handed its family car top spot to the Tucson after running the rule over 50 contenders, analysing important elements like space for rear passengers, fuel economy, handling, and acceleration.
Presenter Chris Harris said: “It's a very good car, and it's further evidence that Hyundai is smashing it at the moment, making proper hot hatches, interesting electric cars, and worthy family cars. They’re on a roll.”
Co-presenter Paddy McGuiness added: “It’s not the most conventional way to decide between a bunch of family cars but I think we all agree on this one. We actually came up with the right answer. The car we’d recommend is the Hyundai Tucson.”
You can lease a Tucson with Select from around £310 per month**, and there are fuel-saving hybrid models, too.
Meanwhile Ashley Andrew, Managing Director at Hyundai Motor UK, revealed: “Top Gear has become much loved weekly viewing over the past 20 years with its unique take on the motoring world, but as well as providing great entertainment, the show’s opinion really matters for millions of viewers.
“So we are particularly pleased it has recognised what a great choice the Tucson is for families, with its revolutionary design, range of technology and electrified options.”
