- Subtle facelift for Honda HR-V
- Gets revised front end and full-width rear lightbar
- Still available exclusively as ‘e:HEV’ full hybrid
- Goes on sale later this month
This is the ‘evolved’ new Honda HR-V, boasting improved driver comfort and subtle changes to the exterior and interior styling.
The HR-V is Honda’s most compact SUV, sitting behind the medium-sized ZR-V, the electric e:Ny1, and the larger CR-V.
It’s also the best-selling Honda model in Europe, so you can see why the Japanese manufacturer wants to see it constantly refreshed.
The style tweaks are minor and you need to look closely to spot them.
At the front, the grille is now wider and more squared-off while the lower trim section is finished in a high-gloss black.
At the rear there’s a full-width LED lightbar with a revised internal design, while three paint colours also join the party - Sage Green, Seabed Blue, and Urban Grey.
Inside the cabin, the lower central dash and centre console have been reprofiled to make access to the wireless charging mat easier from both the passenger and driver’s seats.
Meanwhile another key change is an increase to the sound deadening material to keep intrusive outside noises at bay, which should make for more serene journeys.
Since 2021, the Honda HR-V has come exclusively as a self-charging full hybrid and that powertrain hasn’t changed with this latest update.
It’s an e:HEV system that marries a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and it’s both decently-powerful and economical, offering 131 PS and the ability to return in excess of 50 miles to the gallon. And, of course, it’s a hybrid that never needs to be plugged in.
Honda also reckons the HR-V also ‘continues to provide some of the most comprehensive advanced safety features and driver aids in its class’. New for 2024 is the addition of a 360-degree ‘Multi View Camera System’.
Sales begin later this month with prices to be revealed nearer the time.
Rivals to the Honda HR-V are numerous but include the Ford Puma, Nissan Juke, Vauxhall Mokka and Skoda Kamiq.
