- Honda 0 Saloon and 0 SUV showcased at CES 2025
- Both are scheduled for a market launch in 2026
- Rear styling is sure to divide opinions
- Honda also ramps-up automated driving tech
Take a look at Honda’s eye-catching new 0 Series cars - with both set for a market launch in 2026.
When Honda first revealed its fully-electric 0 Series concepts at the beginning of 2024, they previewed a head-turning new design philosophy.
The Honda 0 Saloon and 0 SUV are built around Honda’s three-pronged principles of ‘Thin, Light, and Wise’.
But it’s the rear of both vehicles that command attention, with a squared-off, rectangular boot dominating proceedings.
The Honda 0 Saloon and the 0 SUV - the latter seen here for the first time - are both being showcased at this month’s CES 2025 tech show in Las Vegas.
And Honda says the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV prototypes preview cars that’ll be put into full production in 2026.
A Honda spokesperson tells us: “While maintaining the exact styling design of the concept model, the prototype features both the low height and sporty styling that sets the Saloon apart from other EVs, and an interior space that is more spacious than people would expect based on the exterior dimensions.”
Honda promises ‘highly reliable’ Level 3 automated driving technology - the sort which allows the driver to take their hands off the wheel entirely to let the vehicle take over. The human driver is still expected to take over in certain circumstances, such as when speeds increase.
Level 3 autonomous driving isn’t quite legal in the UK just yet but the Automated Vehicles Act - which was passed into law in May 2024 - should allow that to become a reality by 2026.
Honda’s ‘eyes-off’ technology will be available in traffic congestion on highways, and Honda will progress capabilities via over-the-air (OTA) updates, presumably when the legal framework catches-up.
It’s a similar story with the Honda 0 SUV, which is based on the Space-Hub concept model unveiled at CES 2024.
Honda says it’s a medium-sized SUV that is set to hit roads before the Honda 0 Saloon.
A rival to cars like the Tesla Model Y and Polestar 3, the Honda 0 SUV will also get clever 3D gyro sensors that apply ‘high-precision attitude estimation and stabilization control’, which suggests it’ll be highly capable off-road.
Both the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV are scheduled for launch in North America first, followed by other global markets - including Europe.
Besides its new cars, Honda has also been talking-up its new operating system - the ASIMO OS - which it has borrowed from the ‘ASIMO’ humanoid robot first seen way back in the early Noughties.
