The power of PETROL compels you… to confront the new Hennessey ‘EXORCIST Final Edition’ Camaro, just in time for Halloween.
You might already be aware that the iconic Chevrolet Camaro muscle car, as we know and love it, is being prepared for the grave.
In 2024 the petrol-powered pony will be dropped from the Chevrolet line-up and rumours are it’ll ultimately be replaced by a fully-electric model bearing the same name - a bit like the Ford Mustang Mach-E.
But Hennessey - the Texas-based hypercar builder, modifier and tuner - isn’t about to let the Camaro die without so much as a whisper.
And this - the EXORCIST Camaro ZL1 ‘Final Edition’ - is here to give some serious competition to the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170.
It's a timely launch, with new movie Exorcist: Believer hitting UK multiplexes earlier this month.
Production is limited to 57 exclusive examples, which marks 57 years since the iconic Chevrolet Camaro first entered production.
In standard form, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine rated at 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.
Hennessey’s tech wizards have taken that engine and worked their magic, fitting it with - among other things - a larger supercharger and upgraded camshafts.
And the net result? A whopping 1,000 horsepower and 966 lb-ft of torque – a 54 percent increase in power and a 49 percent boost in torque overall.
Hennessey says the performance is ‘jaw-dropping’, and it’s not wrong. The EXORCIST Final Edition can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.1 seconds and has a top speed of 217 mph.
John Hennessey, company founder and CEO, said: “Our comprehensive upgrade to the Camaro ZL1 is one of my all-time favourites. The chassis, suspension, and powerplant work seamlessly together, so all the driver experiences is raw, unbridled horsepower. There’s nothing else like our EXORCIST, so we’re eager to share this special limited edition with fans of this iconic car before it’s gone forever.”
You can expect to pay in excess of £100,000 for one.
And if you’re looking to lease a muscle car right here in the UK, you should look no further than the marvellous Ford Mustang.
We’re due to get a brand new Mustang early next year (below). But in the meantime, the winning formula remains the same; stunning good looks, a stonking 5.0 litre V8 making 450 hp, and a relatively affordable lease price starting at £703 per month*.
