Two rival cars - the Kia Niro and the Hyundai Kona - both scooped major trophies at this year’s Fleet News Awards 2024.
The Niro and the Kona (above) have long been slugging it out on the compact SUV-hatchback crossover lease market, with barely a cigarette paper between them.
They’re both available to lease from around £300 per month, there are electric variants, and they also both offer sophisticated hybrid powertrains.
Now the Kia Niro (below) and the Hyundai Kona have also both walked away with gongs at the Fleet News Awards 2024, as they continue to go toe-to-toe.
The Niro was named ‘Best Lower Medium Car Winner’ ahead of a clutch of finalists - being the CUPRA Born, MG4, Renault Megane E-Tech and the Vauxhall Astra.
Not to be outdone, the Kona claimed the ‘Best Compact SUV’ prize, ahead of the ‘highly commended’ Volvo EX30.
Elsewhere at the awards - organised by the Fleet News website - the Audi Q4 e-tron was named ‘Best Mid-size SUV’ and the electric BMW i4 triumphed in the ‘Best Premium Car’ category.
The ‘Best Executive Car’ gong went to the recently-updated BMW 5 Series.
Meanwhile the stunning Kia EV9 (read our review here) was honoured as ‘Electric Car Breakthrough of the Year’.
The UK’s best vans were also heralded at the Fleet News Awards 2024.
The ‘Best Small Van’ trophy went to the Toyota Proace City, ‘Best Medium Van’ was the ever-popular Ford Transit Custom, and ‘Best Large Van’ went to the Ford Transit.
On the pick-up front, ‘Best All-Terrain Workhorse’ was the Toyota Hilux.
