Fisker has unveiled its future vehicle lineup in a glitzy Huntington Beach, California, event. Alongside a sports car and urban EV, the US electric vehicle manufacturer’s CEO, Henrik Fisker, was on hand to present a commercial addition to the range: the Fisker Alaska all-electric pickup truck.
The Alaska, built on an extended version of the Fisker Ocean SUV’s FT31 platform, promises to be highly versatile, with multiple cargo configurations. The options include a cargo bed which extends from 1.4 to 2.8 metres, with a retractable bed divider connecting the cargo bed and rear cabin, which slides down to create a load-through area.
First discussed in August 2020, the Fisker Alaska emphasises lightweight construction, which, according to Fisker, will make it the lightest electric pickup on the market. It says this will help the pickup truck achieve the 230-340 mile range the company projects from a full battery charge, depending on the battery option selected.
As well as unveiling what it claims will be “the world’s most sustainable truck”, the company set out its goal of being the world’s most sustainable carmaker, discussing its commitment to corporate responsibility through its Environmental, Social, and Governance objectives.
Despite revealing very few hard facts about the Alaska, Fisker began taking preorders straight after the show, with deposits of just $250 (£200/€230) required for the $45,400 (£35,750/€41,500) truck. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2025.
