- Skoda Elroq vRS launches
- Performance version of regular Elroq crossover
- Fully electric powertrain with 340 PS
- 0-62 mph in 5.4 seconds
- Makes it fastest accelerating production Skoda ever
Behold the new Elroq vRS - the fastest accelerating production Skoda ever.
The Elroq crossover was launched earlier this year as a fully electric alternative to the traditionally-fuelled Skoda Karoq.
In regular form, the relatively mild-mannered Elroq gets max power of 286 PS.
This vRS model (it stands for ‘Victory Rally Sport’, by the way) ups the oomph to 340 PS, thanks to a slightly larger 84 kWh battery.
There are electric motors on the front and rear axle for all-wheel drive.
And the Elroq vRS can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds. To put that figure into perspective, the sporty Elroq is quicker off the mark than the Octavia vRS (which hits 62 mph from a standstill in 6.4 seconds) or the electric Enyaq Coupe vRS (0-62 mph in 5.5 seconds).
It is, though, still quite a bit slower than the rapid Volvo EX30 (when you lease one in Twin Motor Performance Ultra trim) which can zoom from 0-62 mph in just 3.5 seconds.
Despite all of its get-up-and-go, the Elroq vRS still gets a range of around 340 miles between charges. Talk about having your cake and eating it. It’s also quick to charge, with 185 kW DC capabilities able to take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in around 26 minutes.
A lowered sports chassis and LED Matrix headlights come as standard, as do exclusive 21-inch alloy wheels and a driver’s seat with a massage function. You also get Skoda’s illuminated ‘Tech-Deck’ front face.
The DCC adaptive chassis, with a wide range of shock absorber settings, is available as an option.
And because this is a vRS model, it’s more aggressive-looking than the bog standard Elroq, coming with redesigned front and rear bumpers and privacy glass.
The cabin is treated to suede microfibre upholstery with lime green contrast stitching, a three-spoke heated sports steering wheel in perforated leather, heated sports seats, a 13-inch infotainment system, augmented reality head-up display and an audio system from German manufacturer Canton.
You also get safety tech like Adaptive Lane Assist and Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control fitted as standard.
UK pricing and specification will be announced later this month, with first deliveries expected in the summer.
