Dacia’s affordable electric hatchback-SUV crossover - the Spring - has been named ‘Value Car of the Year’... despite it not actually being available yet!
In July this year Dacia announced that the Spring - which is already on sale elsewhere in Europe - would arrive in the UK in 2024.
With an expected asking price of less than £20,000, it’s set to be the cheapest electric vehicle available to lease, full stop.
And now, before it has even made it to British shores, the Spring has scooped the coveted ‘Value Car of the Year’ gong at News UK Motor Awards 2023.

News UK is the publishing powerhouse behind titles including The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times, with journalists from those newspapers acting as judges.
It’s also the second consecutive year that Dacia has won the 'Value' award, with the seven-seat Jogger taking the prize in 2022.
The Sun Motors Editor, Rob Gill, said: “We’ve been campaigning for Dacia to bring this little car to Britain for three years and now it’s finally coming. Hurrah. Spring is simple, easy-to-use, no-nonsense and the most affordable electric car by some distance. Brilliant commuter car. Brilliant second car. There’s nothing else like it. Dacia won our Value Car of the Year prize with the seven-seat Jogger last year and now Spring takes the award for 2023. They may as well keep the trophy.”

Elsewhere at the News UK Motor Awards 2023, the hybrid Nissan X-Trail e-Power was handed the ‘Family Car of the Year’ silverware.
