A new compact SUV is about to join the Dacia range - the rugged and versatile Bigster.
We first got a look at the Bigster when it was revealed as a concept back in 2021.
And it’s not hard to admire the Bigster’s chunky, tough looks, complete with off-road style plastic moulding around the entire car.
Now Dacia has confirmed that the Bigster - well, a car based on the concept seen here - will be put into full production, with the first examples hitting roads in 2025.
The Bigster should slot into Dacia’s line-up alongside the Duster SUV and the award-winning, seven-seat Jogger estate.
Dacia describes the Bigster as a ‘rugged and roomy vehicle that offers everything required of an SUV in its segment’.
And the Bigster forms part of a new ‘offensive in the C-segment’ for Dacia - with ‘C-segment’ being industry speak for medium size family cars like the Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Golf.
The Bigster will be built at the Mioveni plant in Romania - Dacia’s historic production facility.
Like we’ve seen with the Jogger, you can also expect the Bigster to come with the option of a self-charging hybrid powertrain.
Dacia is adopting a strictly no nonsense approach when building the Bigster - saying it’ll have ‘no bells and whistles, no chrome trim or imitation-aluminium’.
Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Dacia Design Director, said:
“Dacia Bigster Concept epitomises the evolution of the brand. Essential, with a touch of cool and an outdoor spirit. It proves that accessible is not opposed by any meanings to attractiveness. At Dacia we believe so, and this car is the proof.”
