Citroen e-C3 is ‘Company Car of the Year’

You can’t beat affordability - which is why the upcoming Citroen e-C3 has just been awarded ‘Car of the Year’ at the Company Car and Van Awards 2024.

The fully electric e-C3 - a battery-powered companion to the traditionally-fuelled Citroen C3 - isn’t actually available to lease yet in the UK, with a full launch expected in the summer of this year.

But that hasn’t stopped industry magazine Company Car and Van (CCV) pre-emptively naming it as the hottest new vehicle of the year ahead.

And one of the main reasons for Citroen’s victory is the e-C3’s impressive mix of being both cheap and capable.

A CCV spokesperson said: “ For the first time ever we’ve selected a car that we’ve not yet driven as our Car of the Year. How can that possibly be I hear you cry ? Simple. It will cost just under £23,000, will offer a 199 mile electric range and comes with 100kW charging. If we are to get more people into an electric car then the Citroen e-C3 is the most compelling argument yet. Our Car of the Year.”

The wallet-friendly e-C3 will have power of 113 hp, a generous 310-litre boot, and Citroen’s pothole-smoothing Advanced Comfort Suspension.

It’s set to do battle with another award-winning EV - the budget MG4 EV, which you can lease with Select from just £254 per month*.

Elsewhere at the Company Car and Van of the Year Awards 2024, other notable wins in the ‘Car’ category were for the Nissan Qashqai, named ‘SUV of the Year’, and the electric BYD Seal electric saloon, hailed as ‘One to Watch 2024’.

On the ‘Vans’ front, the Renault Kangoo notched a category win for the second year in a row, winning the coveted ‘Small Van of the Year 2024’ silverware.

Last year, the Kangoo E-Tech scooped the ‘Small Electric Van of the Year’ trophy.

Guillaume Sicard, Country Head UK & Managing Director Renault Brand UK, said: “We are only days into the New Year and Kangoo has already won its first award of 2024, underlining how it really does stand the test of time and is still the model to beat in its highly competitive class. For businesses considering a new compact light commercial vehicle in the year ahead, whether it be electric or conventionally powered, they can see right now that Kangoo is the best solution.”

The best-selling Ford Transit Custom was named ‘Medium Van of the Year’ and the Fiat Professional Ducato was ‘Large Van of the Year’.

Meanwhile the Isuzu D-Max (below) pipped the Ford Ranger and the VW Amarok to the ‘Pick-Up of the Year’ title.

I made a number of enquiries into leasing a car and Select came up with the best deal. I dealt with James Bamber who very helpful in dealing with my many questions. They were very easy and straightforward to deal with and would not hesitate to in using them again. Calls and email answered promptly.
