If you’re looking for a colourful hatchback with award-winning credentials, you need to consider a Citroen C3 lease.
The affordable hatchback was this week named World Urban Car at the highly prestigious 2023 World Car of the Year Awards.
It’s a show-stopping triumph for the plucky C3, which fended-off competition from the Volkswagen Taigo and the new Ora Funky Cat electric vehicle.
A Citroen spokesperson said of the award win: “As the first model in a family of three cars, the Citroen C3 combines strong, modern styling with a high level of comfort, not to mention the connectivity and technology that customers expect.”
The C3 ‘family’ referenced above includes the C3 Aircross - which takes the regular C3 and adds a higher ride height and more SUV-like styling.
But the good news for lease customers is that the regular C3 is one of the most affordable cars to lease, full stop. You can enjoy a Citroen C3 with Select Car Leasing from just £175 per month right now*.
So, if you’re after some inflation-beating motoring, here’s everything you need to know about a Citroen C3 lease:
Looks and rivals
By winning the World Urban Car, the C3 is certainly keeping good company. Past winners include the Toyota Yaris Cross, electric Honda e, battery-powered Kia Soul EV and the highly sought-after Suzuki Jimny.
Right now, the C3 competes against other hatchbacks including the Renault Clio, Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Fiesta, Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Ignis and the SEAT Ibiza.
What the C3 has going for it is an exterior that’s youthful, vibrant and full of personality. It looks more practical than other hatchbacks, with its slightly higher ride height.
And the stats back that up, too - a 300 litre boot is larger than competitors like the Ford Fiesta and Suzuki Swift, and is similar in size to the Vauxhall Corsa.
Engine and fuel economy
Unlike some other superminis on the market, the C3 gives you a choice of either a petrol or diesel engine.
A 1.2 litre petrol unit has power ranging from 84 PS to 112 PS, depending on which version you choose.
The latter of those two engines is pretty punchy for the category, getting you from 0-62 mph in less than 10 seconds.
The 1.5 litre diesel mill, on the other hand, will return close to 70 miles to the gallon while also having a decent amount of oomph - which could be the perfect leasing choice if you’re looking to reduce your monthly fuel spend.
Most affordable model
The most affordable Citroen C3, in terms of RRP, is the ‘You!’ trim level.
As you move up through the range you reach ‘C-Series Edition’, ‘Elle’ and finally ‘Shine Plus’.
The entry-level You! C3 comes generously equipped as standard, including a 5 inch touchscreen, DAB radio, cruise control and lane departure warning.
You do, however, have to make do with steel wheels and the level of kit isn’t quite as lavish as the most affordable Suzuki Ignis, for example.
You’re also limited to a manual gearbox with the You! trim C3.
The good news for Select customers is that the C3 we have on special offer right now - and which is actually the cheapest one to lease - is a range-topping Shine Plus variant.
Here you can enjoy everything from a leather steering wheel and reversing camera, to 17 inch alloys and a full suite of collision avoiding intelligent driver safety systems.
They include active safety braking and driver attention alert.
Customisation
One of the other big selling points of the Citroen C3 is the ability to customise it according to your own personal preference. And that goes for lease customers just as much as if you were buying one outright.
Simply find a Select Car Leasing C3 deal that you like, and then hit the 'Choose your Colour, Trim and Options' button. Here you'll see the ability to add a different coloured roof, at no extra cost, or a different coloured flourish to the foremost of the C3's three trademark 'airbumps' and the door mirrors - again, for no extra cost.
Lease a Citroen C3 with Select Car Leasing from £175 per month.
