This is it - the ‘final photo call’ for the Audi TT.
As we revealed earlier this year, the much-loved TT is being put out to pasture by Audi as it focuses on a new electric model instead.
The next-gen ‘TT’ might not even be a coupe or convertible roadster, with some rumours suggesting that the double-lettered title might be handed to a sporty electric crossover.
If you want to lease an Audi TT, get in there while you still can, with prices at Select Car Leasing beginning at around £467 per month*.
Now, to ensure the TT goes out with a bang, Audi has taken the TT for a trip to the Isle of Man - the location for the famous ‘Tourist Trophy’ motorcycle races that inspired the car’s name in the first place.
A TTS Roadster Final Edition and a TT RS Iconic Edition was joined by a first generation TT from the Audi UK heritage fleet.
Director of Audi UK Andrew Doyle says: “The TT was such a pivotal model for Audi back in the Nineties, and we’re still basking in its afterglow almost three decades after the original concept car became an overnight sensation. It was one of the key catalysts behind the incredible transformation our brand has undergone over the past quarter of a century, and in this special anniversary year its history and legacy richly deserve celebration.”
Having been unveiled as a concept in 1995, the original TT went on sale in 1998. The convertible TT Roadster followed a year later in 1999.
And the TT was nothing less than a smash hit.
You could, initially, expect power of between 150 PS and 225 PS, depending on the model, while top power with the TT RS model currently stands at 400 PS.
The third generation of the Audi TT was launched in 2014 and extensively updated in 2018.
An Audi spokesperson adds: “Audi may be reorienting towards electrification as it pursues its aim of becoming a leading provider of sustainable mobility, but the same passion for progress and innovation that gave rise to the TT remains firmly rooted in its Vorsprung durch Technik ethos. Thankfully, that means history of the kind made by this particular masterpiece of automotive design looks set to regularly repeat itself.”
