Evolved Aston Martin Vanquish gets 214 mph top speed

  • All-new Aston Martin Vanquish revealed
  • Gets power of 835 PS and top speed of 214 mph
  • Makes it the fastest series production Aston ever
  • Enjoys star-studded celebrity reveal at the Venice International Film Festival

Feast your eyes on the fastest series production Aston Martin ever created - the all-new Vanquish.

The Vanquish is back after a six year absence and it’s once again powered by a thunderous 5.2-litre V12 combustion engine.

Capable of accelerating up to 214 mph and packing power of 835 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque, the revitalised Vanquish boasts the highest maximum speed of any series Aston Martin ever created. It’ll also accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds.

A quick caveat is needed - as it’s not the most rapid Aston, full stop. That honour goes to the ultra-limited edition 1,155 PS hybrid Valkyrie, which can reach a top speed of 220 mph.

Only 150 road-going examples of the Valkyrie were created.

With the Vanquish, on the other hand, production will run to 1,000 cars. And while the British manufacturer hasn’t confirmed how much the Vanquish will cost, you can expect to shell-out at least £330,000.

Compared to the last Vanquish, which exited stage left in 2018, the new car has a longer wheelbase - increased by 80mm - to create a more refined and comfortable driving experience all round.

There’s a full-length panoramic glass roof and a bespoke, state-of-the-art infotainment system.

Meanwhile Bilstein DTX dampers, an electronic Rear Differential (e-diff) and 21-inch Pirelli P ZERO tyres ensure the Vanquish goes as well as it looks.

Aston Martin Executive Chairman, Lawrence Stroll, said: “With the introduction of Vanquish we have crowned Aston Martin’s next-generation sports car portfolio. A true halo model in every respect, Vanquish makes an emphatic statement. One that further delivers on our mission to create the most potent, most beautiful and most exciting cars in the ultra-luxury sports car market. As such Vanquish is the truest of Aston Martins. Immaculately designed and impeccably engineered it sets extraordinary new standards of performance, style and luxury for a new generation of connoisseurs”.

Just like the DB12 and Vantage, the Aston Martin Vanquish is built around a bonded aluminium body structure with double wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. Aston reckons the Vanquish has actually increased lateral stiffness by 75% compared with the firm’s previous flagship, the DBS 770 Ultimate, for a more ‘focused’ and ‘engaging’ ride.

The addition of the e-diff compared with a traditional mechanical limited-slip differential is also a key one, as it provides both low and high speed stability in all conditions, whether it’s gunning for the apex on a race circuit or negotiating black ice in the depths of a UK winter.

As for how the Vanquish looks, Aston Martin describes it as ‘rakish and indulgent’ - which is bang on from where we’re standing.

There are F1-inspired cooling louvres at the back, as well as a distinctive squared-off Kamm Tail, while there’s a teardrop silhouette overall.

The plush cabin gets a pair of 10.25 screens, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, an abundance of tactile metal dials and toggles, and steering wheel-mounted gear shift paddles.

First deliveries to very lucky punters are set for later this year.

The Vanquish enjoyed a glitzy world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival where it left celebs like George Clooney and Daniel Craig swooning. You can watch video of that star-studded reveal below.
