This is the new 600e - and it’s the most powerful production Abarth ever.
Based on the recently-launched FIAT 600, the Abarth 600e is undergoing final testing ahead of a full launch later this year.
And with 240 hp, a mechanical limited-slip differential, and high-performance tyres developed in the Formula E field, the 600e should be one of the hottest crossovers going.
The 600e ousts the Abarth 695 Biposto (from the mid-2010s) as the ‘most powerful’ car in the firm’s history.
The Biposto (below) made 190 hp and was properly set up for track use, even coming with a titanium rear strut brace.
And Abarth says the new 600e is equally ‘evil’, also describing it as ‘ready, exciting, muscular, and aggressive’.
What you’re looking at here is the 600e in Scorpionissima launch trim, which will be produced in a limited run of 1,949 units.
An Abarth spokesperson tells us: “Designed to leave Abarth fans speechless, the Scorpionissima model is built around three main features: a design to reach maximum performance, a car structure to make it the most powerful Abarth ever, and a competitive spirit to attract motor enthusiasts. Thanks to its loaded equipment, the New Abarth 600e will be able to thrill enthusiasts, giving them the possibility to drive safely without giving up on the aggressive and muscular look of their car.”
Stay tuned for more 600e updates.
But in other Abarth news, Stellantis’ performance division has also been showing off the properly-gorgeous new Abarth 695 ‘75 Anniversario’ - another limited edition model being created to mark the brand's 75th anniversary while also paying tribute to the firm’s tried-and-tested 1.4-litre T-Jet engine.
In the 75 Anniversario 695, the engine is supercharged with a Garrett GT 1446 turbocharger, delivering 180 hp of power and a torque of 250 Nm at 3,000 rpm.
It’ll throttle from 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds and then on to a top speed of 139 mph. You can also expect a ‘Record Monza’ exhaust system with an active valve to adjust the noise, as well as Koni FSD shock absorbers on both axles.
Looks wise, there’s a massive scorpion covering the entire roof - an Abarth first - as well as privacy glass, gold Abarth logos, unique 17-inch gold alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, and perforated disks.
The plush cabin features an Alcantara dashboard and Sabelt-specific carbon seats.
The Abarth 695 75 Anniversario is priced from £32,000 to buy outright, and we’ll bring you leasing costs as and when they arrive.
